Seriously. I would like to see what all the critics would do if they were in his shoes. I highly doubt all of you would turn down $400k opportunities out of principle.
If I'd just inked a $60M book deal? Absolutely.

It would only be acceptable if he wasn't gonna continue to stay involved in politics.

But he is. He was clearly instrumental in getting Perez elected DNC Chair. He's indicated that he wants to pursue an agenda to get civic participation up, tackle gerrymandering, and to get money out of politics. Does anybody seriously think that this isn't representative of a system that's set up to buy influence? It's written all over it.
