Very negative. I come from a family of Tories, though.

Negative.

Their purpose seems to be to make the Conservative Party look reasonable. They claim to believe in "freedom and democracy", and yet they have a Lord as their Leader! He was also elected Leader with less than 50% of the vote.

No PM has gotten 50% of the vote for their party since 1931, so the vote share argument isn't particularly valid in a British context.

No PM has gotten more than 0. something of the vote for their party ever.

My point was that UKIP claim to believe in democracy, and yet they use the undemocratic British electoral system in their leadership elections.

It's not our electoral system, but our districts that are undemocratic.

Negative, although I am quite sympathetic to their views on the European Union.

Negative. I thought they were just the "Oh No, European Union!" party until I read a little more into their manifesto and discovered their climate change positions. *Shudders*

They really are out of touch with reality, to say the least.

That's not nearly as shudder-worthy as the fact that they're the bourgeois racists.

Bingo! It's one thing to be concerned about Islamic immigration, as I am myself, but it is another to express such hatred and hostility while being devoid of any understanding.

How exactly does this concern of yours manifest itself?

Extreme growth and major cultural differences combined with a resistance to assimilation.
