He'd never win a primary. Its upper middle class suburbanites and African Americans that make up the democratic primary voters in Virginia. Even with the super low turnout because of the off year primary effect he's not going to convince either group

1.Youngkin Uses nostalgia to win back NOVA, Loudon gives him 80% of the vote and Fairfax gives him 70% of the vote. Countining on Trump Trends he also flips the entire black belt winning Brunswick, Greenvile and Sussex based on minority backlash to CRT

2. T-mac still wins by waking up ancestral demsaurs and sweeps in SWA. All the coal democrats come back because of the recent increase in coal producition they credit to the Biden Admiinstration. The rest of them come back because of his ties to southern WWC hero Hillary Clinton.

Yeah Kentucky 2019 was about Bevin being an idiot, and the Lousiana Governor election was just JBE being a good incumbent. The entire ticket is winning here.

Kentucky is much more red than these states are blue, if we look at the AG and SOC races in those states they showed similar levels of overperofmance to the VA repubclains here.

Congrats to Blue Avatars on your win, and for being right regarding the election fundementals. Democrats don't be too disheartned, Virginia is historicaly swingy and trifectas do have a way of making themselves unpopular. Think of it as a a wakeup-call that you need to change something going into the far more important mid-term elections in 2022.

I think people are overestimating how much CRT impacted this race and underestimating how much schools closures during covid(and republican/democratic messaging on that issue) mattered.

To what extent will the average voter even remember this when they go into the voting booth ? Campagin scandals have been having increasingly little effect on down-ballot races. It's a swing district so even a marginal difference matters but I doubt it's a killer.
