Kenned/Kander! Could also live with Kennedy/Harris or Kennedy/Moulton, the rest are bad choices (especially Gabbard but also Clinton or Sandberg).

"especially Gabbard"

As a Gabbard fanboy myself, I must ask - why do people dislike/avoid her?

I don't understand how she's not one of the most realistically electable, and respectable Democrats in the Party right now.

Moderate DINOs hate her because she's a young, attractive, military veteran with a Non-Interventionist Foreign policy and Left-Wing economic policies who doesn't scream about #metoo and Transgenders all the time like Gillibrand.

No, instead she advocates for multiple leaders who support the mass killings of Muslims in their own countries.

Her left-wing economic policies don't mask the fact that she's far-right socially. Which of course is exactly what you want, which is why you like her so much.
Is she though? I realize her father opposes(ed) gay marriage, but she's one of the leading voices to decriminalize weed in the House.
"Sure, she called people who want gay marriage 'homosexual extremists,' but at least she supports making weed less illegal!"

My issues with her are:
-her shaky record on LGBTQ+ rights. Despite her current lip service to preserving my right to exist, I don't entirely trust her due to her previous statements
-meeting Assad
-supporting Assad
-the Hindu nationalist stuff isn't great
-I'm suspicious of any Democrat praised by Republicans (Steve Bannon, Bill Kristol, etc.)
-was very slow to endorse Hillary after Bernie lost

In addition to what JFK said, I'd say that the overall foreign policy makes me very suspicious. I think there's a worldwide movement of politicians supportive of Putin and Assad over U.S. and allies like Israel, even in the west, but those in the west are often kinda vague about it, like Gabbard and Kucinich. I find this movement very dangerous. So Gabbard is a huge "no" for me, I'd probably vote for generic R over her.

This is not necessarily an either or debate. Some people simultaneously believe that Putin, Assad, and Netanyahu are all very bad people.

Personally, I would consider all 3 of them to be war criminals.

Compromises.

Friday, July 24th, 2020. Caroline has won the Party Nomination.

Caroline's finalists for Vice Presidential Running Mate were Missouri Secretary of State Jason Kander, and daughter of Hillary Clinton and political/social activist, Chelsea Clinton.

While Caroline had plenty of say in trimming the list, it was Caroline's campaign manager, Jennifer Palmieri, who had the biggest say in influencing Caroline's choice for her running mate.

The Center For American Progress, The Obama Administration, John Edwards' failed campaigns for the Presidency, as well as Hillary Clinton's failed 2016 campaign - Jennifer knew her way around the party. It wasn't that she wasn't smart, but rather her own personal bias led her to pull Caroline toward the establishment wing of the Democratic Party, instead of the Progressive wing.

The general belief within the campaign was that Caroline had already won over Progressive Democrats, and had earned their trust.

They were soon going to find out that this wasn't true.

Whether or not she selected Kander or Clinton, some Progressives were going to lose interest in Caroline. She understood the dangers of picking a fellow Blue Dog Centrist, but also considered the weight that the "Clinton" name carried, for better or worse.

The Party and Campaign Press Secretaries were waiting, and it was decision time.

BREAKING - Caroline Kennedy selects Chelsea Clinton, daughter of Hillary Clinton, as Running Mate

As much as it killed her inside, Caroline knew that compromises would have to be made with the Party higher-ups. She was lucky enough to win the nomination, let alone have the freedom to run a center/center-left campaign. She had to compromise, and she was willing to risk the Vice Presidential Running Mate, rather than her own political agenda.

She only hoped that she had not selected the next Geraldine Ferraro or Sarah Palin.

August, 2020

Early signs of Chelsea's political ability, and how the nation would receive her, weren't great.

While Caroline was doing a great job on media appearances and with barnstorming and rallies, Chelsea's travels had some occasional gaffes and mishaps. Her obvious lack of knowledge about foreign affairs, trade, and the global economy gave her an "unprofessional" finish. She had large shoes of her mother's reputation to fit, and even then, her mother didn't win her own election.

Caroline's campaign performance was better but still flawed. In polling, she failed to truly gain the trust of progressives and far-leftists. The Green Party candidate, Mayor Carmen Yulin-Cruz of San Juan, Puerto Rico, had already reached 2.2%. Fortunately, this seemed to have canceled out with Trump's loss of Libertarians and Far-Right Wingers, as Libertarian Party nominee Tom Woods had already reached 3% in polling, with Constitution Party nominee Pat Buchanon reaching 2%.

As of late August, the current electoral map had Kennedy and Clinton at 206 Electoral Votes, while President Trump and Vice President Pence trailed at 186 Electoral Votes, with a promising 146 Electoral Votes-worth of Swing States in the balance.

Through the month of August, Caroline, Campaign Staff, and Party Staff assisted Chelsea with shaping up her debate, presentation, and informational skills. Through the month of August, the Kennedy and Clinton ticket made improvements in polls, officially leading Trump and Pence by 4% during the final week of August.

As poorly as the campaign started, things were starting to pick up - slowly. Chelsea was coming into form, and the Progressive wing of the Democratic Party realized the bigger prize at stake.

However, a haunting day was on the horizon; being planned within the confines of the West Wing, by President Trump and some of his closest confidants.

Unbeknownst to both the Kennedy/Clinton campaign and the very creators of the plan, chaos would unfold which would change the course of American politics and the Presidency.

Ew Chelsea ew ew ew ew

Wouldn't Caroline need someone with, like, way more experience? No one on this ticket has ever held elected office before (picking Kander wouldn't help here either; he's never won federal elected office either). I would have expected someone like Amy Klobuchar to be her running mate.

Regardless, good TL

Bloody Sunday

September 6th, 2020

BREAKING - BuzzFeed has acquired the Trump-Russia Dossier Footage

"At 7:46 AM EST, on September 6th, 2020 - a BuzzFeed employee was sent a cryptic email containing an MP4 file. Upon requesting permission to open the file, the BuzzFeed employee found that the footage within the file contained footage of the allegations outlined in the Christopher Steele "Trump-Russia" Dossier. BuzzFeed immediately reported this to the FBI, as news broke of House and Senate officials receiving the same file. The White House has not yet issued a response."

As noon approached, despite the fact that the White House had not yet issued a response to the developing situation, Washington was engulfed in a tidal wave of response from all sides. Democratic Representatives and Senators, unanimously, called on the President to resign. While most Republican officials and personalities remained quiet on the situation, many big-name Neo-Conservatives such as Senator Mike Lee, Senator Marco Rubio, former Senator Ted Cruz, former Governor Jeb Bush, Senator Mitt Romney, and former presidential candidate Evan McMullin called for the resignation of the President. Protesters had made their way into D.C - and were not showing any signs of weakness into the afternoon, at least until they had a response from the administration.

The Kennedy/Clinton campaign called for an immediate gathering at the DNC Headquarters. All events for that day were canceled, as Caroline and Chelsea met with DNC officials to discuss how to further navigate the situation. They mutually agreed that it was best to remain in the shadows for the moment, and await a response.

2:00 PM

Vice President Mike Pence's social media pages release a video message.

"As you are all greatly aware by now, video footage of President Trump committing lewd, unprofessional, disgusting acts, in private; has publicly surfaced. These actions are inexcusable, and, in my opinion, violate every ethical standard set forth for the Commander in Chief of this great nation to abide by. After discussion with friends, family, and advisors - it is with great sorrow that I hereby resign from the office of the Vice President, effective at Midnight this evening. Additionally, I hereby resign from my position as Vice Presidential Running Mate of Republican Party nominee President Donald Trump. God Bless you all...and God Bless the United States of America.

The Kennedy/Clinton campaign team had never been so ecstatic, but frantic, in their lives. Three months away from the election and the incumbent, campaigning Vice President had just resigned. The President was in the biggest scandal of his already scandal-ridden administration. The very President who in 2016 humiliated every Democrat in the nation, and brought forth an administration of hatred, bigotry, and corruption. The same President who humiliated, insulted, and bullied Chelsea's mother and father on the national political scene.

Caroline and Chelsea didn't feel happy about all of this - but they felt content.

They knew their time would come, and was soon arriving.

6:00 PM

The White House announces that President Trump will make a nationally-televised address at 9:00 PM.

"Thank you for joining us. As you know, this morning, the President was...humiliated - after certain footage of him appeared in an email sent to several journalists and elected officials. The President wants to express his deepest regret, and apologies- for the people of this nation. He promises to come from this a better man, a better President, and a better person. To those who oppose him, he will not give in. To those who support him, he promises that he will make it up to you. This is a hard time. We have to get through this together, but more importantly together as a nation. I will not be taking any questions - Thank You.

As Caroline and Chelsea watched the nervous, anxious Sarah Huckabee Sanders return to the West Wing, the 9:00 PM hour drew closer.

The nation sat waiting. A resignation was doubtful - but demanded by so many. But just as with his Access Hollywood Tape National Apology, Donald Trump was truly two steps ahead.

9:00 PM.

President Trump addresses the nation on National Television.

"My Fellow Americans. This morning, a humiliating, disgusting video of previously-denied actions commited by myself was leaked to the public. Similar to the Access Hollywood tape, but far worse, this video raises questions about my honesty, my character, and my humility. I apologize to any person who was hurt, embarassed, or felt betrayed by my actions in this matter. I wish to apologize to the entirety of the United States, and the nation of Russia, for the humiliation and shame this situation is causing them."

"I am a troubled man. I make mistakes. I am not perfect. I never will be. As President, I have done and said things which many deem hateful, racist, sexist, misogynstic, and vile. It was never my intent to come across this way. I am not a sexist, a racist, or a misogynst. I am, however, a liar. I lied to the American people. For this, I deeply apologize. You all deserve far better. I swear, with all of my heart, that I will change.

"This situation is incredibly serious, and deserves a full scale investigation, and possible reprecussions. However, fellow political leaders must be held accountable as well for their own actions..."

And with this, the Kennedy/Clinton campaign collectively sinked back into their chairs, awaiting the spin of a lifetime.

"After months of intenral investigation, with help from my cabinet and top legal officials, I hereby announce that Attorney General Chris Christie, and Deputy Attorney General Trey Gowdy have officially formed a set of charges against a set of top political and legal officials. These individuals will soon be arrested, charged, and tried for their heinous acts against this nation.

"May God have mercy on us all, and may God Bless the United States of America."

As the signal of President Trump cut away, the list appeared.

James Comey, Loretta Lynch, Andrew McCabe, Peter Strok, Lisa Page, Dana Boente, Sally Yates, and none other than Chelsea Clinton's mother, Hillary.

As Chelsea's face blushed with shame and embarassment, Caroline froze, sinking in how much this very day changed the course of history.

Well written TL. If true, it shows that political experience doesn't count much in a post-Trump world.

Don't like the VP choice though, I would have preferred a more professional candidate.

The Downfall of the Trump Presidency

September 9th, 2020

It was three days since the course of American politics and the American Presidency were changed forever. Top political figures arrested, the resignation of the Vice President, and a divorce filed by the First Lady served as individual earthquakes to the election.

Through this scandal, Caroline and Chelsea's lead had grown to 14 points over the incumbent President. With a last-second running mate selection of Steve King, despite the interim Vice President being Steve Scalise, the Trump campaign was in pieces. In polling, it was shown that Trump had lost virtually all support except for his far-right base, as outliers transitioned to support Pat Buchanon or Tom Woods.

Even the Vice President, Steve Scalise, openly disavowed the President in terms of voting for him the election.

As September transitioned, Trump continued to make history, and not for the good. His approval numbers had fallen to historic lows, and he refused to participate in Presidential election debates. Debates between Steve King and Chelsea Clinton were typically in favor of King, but the bold conservative's victorious performances weren't effective with voters.

October 10th, 2020

"I really feel like I'm on my way out."

"You know. I'm not proud of what I did. I hate myself for it. But I'm running, yes. Me and Steve, a great guy, a great conservative, he's a big patriot. We're going to run, we're going to win against all odds, you remember 2016? Just like 2016, but even bigger. Hillary and all her crook friends will be brought to justice, and we're gonna keep this country great. Low taxes, jobs, lots of jobs, and you know what... I'm going to grow as a person."

"But...President Trump, don't you, at all, think it's a little late for change? We're all plenty aware of all of the details. Directly facing the numbers and stats, things aren't looking good for you and Steve King. Why are you even running? Why not forfeit the GOP nomination? Why?"

"Well...the stress is getting to me a bit. I feel like I'm on my way out. But hey, it's worth a fighting chance. They said 2016 would never happen, and hey, look at where we are now."

October 20th, 2020

Current Presidential Election Polling -

Kennedy/Clinton - 54%
Trump/King - 37%
Buchanon/Gaetz - 4%
Woods/Kokesh - 2%
Yulin-Cruz/Baraka - 2%
Undecided - 1%

November 3rd, 2020

Election Night

Part One

6:00 PM EST - Early exit polls show Donald Trump with a large lead in the south and midwest. Trump supporters turned out for gun rights and immigration, despite the massive scandals of the administration. Almost all voters expressed distaste with the Trump administration, however, as election night polling has the President at a 28% approval rate.

7:00 PM EST - Indiana and Kentucky have been called for Donald Trump.

7:30 PM EST - Despite high polling numbers, Virginia and Florida are currently leading in favor of Trump, With about 7% reporting in both states, Trump is up by double-digit percentage points.

8:00 PM EST - After flipping blue, Florida is once again for Trump, as he leads by 2% with 13% reporting. Kennedy currently leads in Ohio by 4 percent, with 7% reporting. Kennedy has a shocking lead in Georgia, leading by 4% with 12% reporting. Vermont is safely Kennedy. Mississippi, Alabama, South Carolina, and Tennessee have all been called in favor of the President.

8:30 PM EST - As the nation watches, early results have the nation in shock. President Trump currently leads in Kennedy's home state of Massachusetts, by an entire 20 points with 4% reporting. However, at the moment, Kennedy leads in Ohio, Virginia, Pennsylvania, Florida, Georgia, and Missouri. Kennedy winning even most of these states would make a Trump re-election impossible.

Caroline was at home in Massachusetts with her family, with Chelsea in nearby Westchester, New York. If 2016 had taught the duo anything, it was that early results and all the polls in the world didn't matter a bit. They eagerly sat and patiently waited for states to be called, as their individual fates, and the fate of the nation lied in this election.

President Trump and his running mate Steve King were locked in a high-security room in Trump Tower, kept away from all media and guests, only to be surrounded by family and advisors. Anxiety filled the air as the duo slowly watched their odds die out, but a victory was still a possibility.

Would the bastardly, scandal-ridden Trump administration live to survive another crisis, or would the Kennedy and Clinton political dynasty return to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue?

November 3rd, 2020

Election Night

Part Two

It was now just past 9:00 PM EST, and things were finally starting to fall into line.

The Northeast securely swung back into the hands of Kennedy and Clinton, as Trump took the South. Ohio, Florida, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Michigan were all called for Kennedy.

As the Midwest came in, safely supporting the President, the states of Georgia, Missouri, Iowa, Wisconsin, and New Hampshire were still on the fence. Caroline led by seventy electoral votes.

In Trump Tower, the President and his running mate, the ever controversial Steve King, sat quietly in the dark, secluded room. The feeling was generally ominous, though polling in those eastern swing states was surprisingly high for the campaign.

Their night was far from over, as at 9:50, all five states were given to the President.

As cheers and optimism started to make their way back into Trump Tower, Caroline and Chelsea felt the ghosts of 2016 starting to make their way back into their homes. If they lost - the Democratic Party would be the weakest it had ever been in decades. Their colleagues and family would be political prisoners. The nation would suffer a downfall into an Imperial Presidency.

Montana, Idaho, Wyoming, and Utah - all red. President Trump still trailed, but so similar to 2016, the pendulum was slowly swinging his way.

Alaska and Hawaii were called for their stereotypical Republican and Democratic victories, respectfully, and with seven States left, the President only trailed by three electoral votes.

Come 11:30 PM, Caroline Kennedy and Chelsea Clinton won the States of Colorado and New Mexico, while the President won the State of Arizona, and pulled off a massive upset in the State of Nevada.

Donald Trump and Steve King, of course, stood no chance of winning any of the three west coast States.

And win they did not.

By just after midnight, Caroline Kennedy was declared the first female President of the United States. Her running mate, Chelsea Clinton, the very first female Vice President of the United States.

In Trump Tower, Steve King had already said his goodbyes, and quietly, secretly made his way back to a jet which would return him to Iowa.

President Trump sat alone, watching the night he knew would come, on his favorite channel, Fox News. The commentators, some of his biggest supporters, or so he used to think - struggled to show genuine shock or anger. They knew this night would come. As much as they denied the Access Hollywood Tape, or RussiaGate, or the namecalling and the scandal and the drama - they knew that this nation could only, for so long, withstand a President the nature of Donald Trump.

The President muted the television, and his campaign manager, Brad Parscale, made the fateful handoff of the cheap throwaway cell phone with only two contacts -

President-Elect Kennedy, and Vice President-Elect Clinton.

"Mrs. Clinton? Yes, this is President Trump..."
