Labour have held Hendon by 8pts - they lost it by that margin a year ago.

I’ve kept having a nagging feeling about Hillingdon council- which is where Boris has his seat (he has no real connection to the area though)

It requires a huge huge swing and a lot of seats to switch to Labour- but it was mentioned at the start as being a long shot but has been ignored.

What are a couple best websites that you guys would suggest for returns when they start come in?

BBC news should have a livestream available to international viewers starting around 630 PM EST.

Is there a link to this?

Sunderland Coming first does skew things, a tad bit dissapointing.

Cautiously optimistic so far, but can't stay up any later so I'll have to catch up in the morning

Ward by ward results are hilarious to see the reactions from people thinking it’s all one big uniform swing…

Double blow for Sunderland Tories: they've failed to gain Washington South (which they were intensely targeting and stressed that they were to journalists from national newspapers) and have lost Fullwell to the LibDems.

And Labour have now held the Council.

Washington I believe actually is the decider here, which puts Labour over 38. Looking at the BBC Labour are mainly down -2% there, and down 1 seat with a few left to declare. This is very good for Labour, though their spin man on the BBC isn't good at converying that optimism.  The correct response to Huw's question should have been "We are only down 2% here when compared to the 15% lost in 2019. I'd take a 12% swing in our favor any day of the week."

For Portugal it's not available. Maybe it's only available for English speaking countries. Don't know.

Ha the obsession with red wall did lead to Sunderland getting quite high billing- but significant that the local council weren’t beloved (but have turned a corner)

If Croydon goes Labour it will be slightly funny…

The TV coverage is quite awful- just follow a number of British journalist and accounts on Twitter who are live tweeting the results. It’s not as fun but the quality is often better than the rubbish I was listening to on LBC on their election program.

After briefing the could make massive gains in Sunderland, not only do the tories fail to do that they make a loose a seat and slip into third place.

Greens pick up three in South Tyneside- including one from the Tories.

They’re becoming more of a local Govt protest vote..

Wandsworth starting to come in now. That Labour/Lib Dem split in a place like Wandsworth is interesting to note.

Nine Elms is a new ward in an area of expensive new developments and has a tiny electorate, because it was deliberately drawn small to allow for growth.  So it was always likely to be a bit odd.  I doubt the Lib Dems will be a factor elsewhere in Wandsworth.

You can't assume that Lib Dem voters and Labour voters are simply interchangeable. There is a significant demographic of people (wealthy homeowners) that will sometimes vote for the Lib Dems but would never vote for Labour. You'll find a fair few of these types in the new very expensive riverside developments in Nine Elms.

There is a reason why Labour's current strategy for defeating the Tories in 2024 seems to involve the Lib Dems hoovering up soft Tory votes. These people could quite possibly be persuaded to vote against the Tories but most could never bring themselves to vote Labour.

Colchester council has seen the Tories lose two seats already- including their leader.

Is significant as it’s a major Lib Dem target in the General election.
