That's what we need.  A hapless blue dog from a Deep Trump state to alienate the coalition we have while not attracting any of the working class voters we've lost.

I think the most important thing is to have Democrats challenging Republicans in every race nationwide.  No race should go unopposed.  And if it means running conservative Democrats in conservative districts... well, we can hash that out when we win congress and assign committee seats and leadership.

It is really important to stress that we're not pandering to rural whites... we're including them as much as possible.

We can't continue to speak lip service to "inclusiveness" while we write off, often with haughty dismissiveness, vast swathes of America.

If Ellison has anything to do with the success of the DFL party in Minnesota, then he's probably a good choice.
The right will demonize him as a radical black muslim convert with questionable ties from his past.

But as a congressman he has brought DFL values to Washington and represents a majority NH white district.

I've said this a few times now:

My heart says Ellison.  He's a Minnesotan and I think he's a genuinely good person.

But my mind and gut say Howard Dean.  Tried and true.  Governor from a small, rural state.  Progressive/liberal.  Believes in including everyone without litmus tests as a big tent left wing party.  Is not in congress.

Logic dictates Howard Dean.  Heartstrings play an Ellison song.

I love all these people that are like

"well, there's really no difference between Ellison and Perez so what's the big deal?" or "this isn't even that important a position so what'st he big deal?"

I dunno.. but it is a big deal to me and apparently it isn't to you.. so how about you just give up and let Ellison have it!  No big deal, right?

If I were a Berniecrat I'd rather have Ellison in the House than as fundraisier/hack-in-chief. What if he's replaced on Congress by a Blue Dog? How does that help the movement at all?

Best case he's replaced by another Berniecrat, but the new one will be inexperienced and less effective for a while.
Lol.  Yeah, Minneapolis is gonna vote a blue dog into congress... stop being disingenuous.

If we nominate Cuomo, I'll leave the party forever.

No you won't, you'll go all in for him just like with Clinton. Everyone threatens to defect but nobody does
