Yes, that's what I meant (do bear in mind it says "parties", not person)

Ack! While I'm not asking that you change the rule this time, I do ask that you consider changing it to "person" next time - while it's not possible for an individual to do 10 events in a day, it is totally reasonable for 5 such individuals to split up that itinerary, and it seems realistic that a party could do more than 5 quality events on the last day if it's divided between multiple people.

Just a quick clarification - will events after 12:00 AM EST count? Even if, say, they occurred just seconds after the deadline?

Campaigning is over.

It's not so much an issue of whether it is physically possible as it one of whether it should be effective and whether it is fair. Too much campaigning on the last day makes it almost impossible for other people to respond or react, and in a scenario somewhat resembling RL most voters would have made up their minds by that point. Otherwise it just leaves it theoretically open - I think - for any party to simply dump the entire campaign on the last day - or even the last hour - and still profit, a scenario I'd rather wish to avoid.

Just a quick clarification - will events after 12:00 AM EST count? Even if, say, they occurred just seconds after the deadline?

I'll count Truman and Cao's events.

Hopefully results will be calculated tomorrow night, but there's a lot of events since the last polling update to grade. I'll also have an experimental feature in place for December and, the way things are going, an announcement on the future of NPC elections after December is done and we end the six month cycle.

I really don't like the culture of treating these elections like vote dumps as if one party does them, you have to do them.

Single paragraph "events" shouldn't even count.  If there's no effort into making it a realistic rally, then it should be treated as if you wasted the voters' time.

While I understand this is a concept you might not be familiar with, this is called "winning elections". Deal with it.

You do realize that we can distribute our campaign drops however the hell we want

As an aside, though, that was kind of an f-up on my part - I misread the rule and thought each Laborite was allowed 5 events each on the last day, which led to the massive campaign surplus on the last day. Don't worry, that will be resolved next time Wink

Please keep these kinds of conversations - and attitudes - away from this thread. You have the commentary thread for that type of discussion if it's really necessary for it take place.

Heads up, I've graded the whole set of events and will be trying to give results as soon as possible (may not be today). The December process will start on schedule on the 7th, and after December is done (and we complete the entire six month cycle), I'll be enacting a pause - ranging from a few days to something more serious - so we can both conduct a large feedback process and so I can ascertain how to move forward.

Note to Lumine: The Genealogy Know Your Family History Party will run in just Tennessee for all elections. When listing the party using colors and whatnot, use "Genealogy Know Your Family History Party" for general listings and "Genealogy Party" for polling and results.

Peace will not be dropping out of any contests in Tennessee.

Just as long as it's understood that I'll be using one specific color to avoid losing my sanity when I write the polling/results.

OK, so questions.

First, I am under the impression that one cannot run as an Independent.  Is this correct?

Second, is it possible that (under the rules) one could create his own party, and run as a member of that? For example, let's say I wanted to run for CT Governor as a member of my self-created party....let's call it the "Libertarian Party of CT".  Would that be allowed?

I think you can create your own regional party and run under that, but I don't think player candidates are allowed to run in these elections (hence, NPC).

You can create a fictional character and campaigning for them for ct Governor under Lincoln Libertarian Party, provided you created such party in the appropriate LincolnParty Registration thread.
