Carbon Tax of 2019
Vote: Nay

Reason: I oppose any increase in the overall tax burden of southerners. There are better ways to raise revenue and address environmental concerns.

This is a big step towards fighting climate change, secondly the tax is designed to discourage people from using carbon

These being?

Invest in resources that are alternatives to carbon use

Well, you need to pay for that investment, which means tax increases or cuts elsewhere

We can encourage the private sector to invest. I wouldn't mind using current government resources to invest in alternatives to carbon either so yes, I would cut from waste somewhere else or raise revenue without raising taxes.

So, then would you support a cap-and-trade system, similar to the one proposed in 2010
