Yeah, how dare he launch Fort Sumter into the Confederate cannonballs!

To be fair, do you think that war would not have happened even if the Rebels hadn't attacked Fort Sumter?

Although I would say the South started the war by leaving the Union in the first place.

And your last sentence is all that matters.

Yeah I guess I was being nitpicky.

Wasn't trying to be blunt, and in fact I guess I was more responding to the Texas guy through quoting your quote.

Jackson is criticized for the IRA, but Lincoln is praised by you guys even though he caused a war murdering 600,000 Americans and didn't care about slavery? Lol ok

My Christ. Damned pacifists. Stating that he "didn't care about slavery" is, at least as far as my knowledge extends, a display of willful ignorance as to the mind of one of America's most iconic statesmen.

Southerners who feel a connection to the CSA just because those traitors/rebels happened to be from their states over 150 years ago baffles me.  It really does.  Don't get me wrong, I'm used to it and certainly not surprised by it anymore; but when I think about it logically, it's just strange.  Abraham Lincoln saved the Union that they now live in and - whether or not his original intention - freed the slaves.  I'd like to think every Southerner would agree those were both very good things...
