Paterson will have a very successful term and easily win re-election with 60-70% of the vote over a token joke GOP candidate

Some Democrat. Probably Paterson if he wants to continue.

I think Paterson will probably retire after one term, leaving it to a competitive race between Andrew Cuomo and Michael Bloomberg.

Spitzer for the comeback!

If Paterson wants it, then Paterson.  Otherwise Cuomo.

I'd like to see Schumer, but at the rate he is going I'd much rather see him as Majority Whip, and Durbin as Majority Leader.

Who knows.  Depends on Paterson's competence and of course, whether he chooses to run again.

Paterson will be reelected, IMO.

If Governor Patterson decides to go for his first full term then I see no reason why he shouldn't be re-elected in 2010. However if Patterson declines to run in 2010, then I can see Andrew Coumo winning the Governorship of New York.

Paterson. He could always choose not to run, but New York is an important prestige state. It's not like Idaho where the Republicans' likely candidate choose to run again for Lt. Gov, after becoming governor in the wake of Dirk Kempthorne's appoinment as Sec. of the Interior.

unless Paterson has a Spitzer-caliber fuc*-up, Paterson.

He's pretty much already had one. The New York Times and the local media have been scathing about the various affairs he's been dragged into admitting in the past week. I expect his first approval rating poll to have him not above 40%, and that he won't run for election.

Some other Democrat will win.

Philandering Patterson will be a caretaker Governor until the election.

Then the serious contenders will be running.
