I second this.

I tend to agree with what Fritz has said. I also look forward to the testimony of Badger, which I think will be very enlightening considering his first hand experience with this and other teen social  issues.

Personally, while I look forward to what Badger has to say, I don't particularly see it's relevance at all.

I would argue he knows more about the subject than you or I and that makes it relevant by itself.

His "testimony" is anecdotal at best. This discussion should be settled between us, objective findings on the subject, and realistic consequences of rolling back the restrictions. Not by listening to Badger's little stories.

On issues like Drugs, porn etc. Anecdotal evidence and individual trends might be better then statistics of the overall population.

That is the dumbest thing you've said in awhile. Anecdotal evidence is called "anecdotal evidence" because it's not representative of the overall situation. Viewing the trees instead of the forest is one of the most misguided and irresponsible things you could ever do.

If you think anecdotal evidence is better than the actual facts here, you shouldn't be a Senator.

Settle down!!! Anecdotal evidence are facts. They don't represent the majority, true, but are the 20% who are negatively effected not important. What about 10%. I think that statistics can be misleading and cause us to forget we are talking about individual people who respond in different ways to different things and that needs to be considered. If you thing you can hide behind a 60 or a 70% and forget the other 30%, then you sir shouldn't be a Senator.

Quite. And we have too many immigrants around here who can't speak proper English.

What does that have to do with anything?

Al was satirizing NC Yank for being a xenophobe who decries people who come to America without being able to speak English when his own language skills are embarrassingly awful.

I don't decry people coming to America. I decry though the practice of using the Immigration system to wage economic genocide on poor Americans of all colors and background through wage depression. You increase the number of workers in a field, the wages will go down. Its economics 101 and the sectors being flooded with immigrant workers are already paid sh**t. I don't recall mentioning making English the national language recently, though some other Republican Avatar did, don't remember who though.

I thank badger for his well developed contribution to the Senate. I agree that children need to be treated differently with adults and that there is nothing hypocritical about opposing this bill.

Aye.
Not a "happy aye" either. I still don't feel comfortable with kids being able to legally "do stuff" with porn, but I guess they do it anyways.

You have definitely improved as a Senator. Tongue

With 6 Ayes, this bill has enough votes to pass. Senators now have 24 hours to change their votes.

But your still the same. Tongue

Cuz I'm sure you didn't look at porn at 14.. that you were illegally possessing.

Since when is it a crime to NOT look at porn at 14 or 15 or 16 for that matter? Why does our culture force everyone to live lives of sin in order to be treated fairly. You got to look at porn at 14, have sex at 16, start smoking at 12 and start Marijauna by 16. Am I the only that finds something wrong with a culture that discourages NOT doing these thinks.

I don't find anything wrong with looking at porn at the age of 14 or having sex at 16. But smoking cigarettes and marijuana is harmful to your health and kids cannot make those decisions. Until you can prove to me that watching porn at 14 or having sex at 16 is harmful to one' health, please keep quiet and stop embarrassing yourself.

Since when are concerned about just physical health. What about Mental and emotional health as well. Surely these are affected by someone having sex so early.

Finally my statement was in response to the general response from Snowguy, yourself and others.
"I am sure you didn't look at porn at 14." As if its unnaccetable to not look at it.

Sbane, you let me be the judge of when I should keep quiet. I will never keep quiet when I know that you are wrong and I am right. So why don't you quit with you f**king elitist condescending attitude cause I will not take that from anybody. You don't have sole custody of the right ideas just because you are from California. You are wrong here and I know so, you have no right to tell me to keep quiet, none at all.

Yankee, now you are just being ridiculous. There is nothing wrong with having sex at age 14. I don't have any emotional problems or anything like that. There is no proof of these claims.

Oh yay for anecdotal evidence. Just 5 pages ago, anecdotal evidence wasn't the equal of statistical evidence. Now that it backs up your point its fine. Everybody is different, and I hate to break it to you but not everyone is like you. People respond differently to different situations and the reactions always vary.

NCY-- Calm down.  Seriously.

Kids look at porn.  If you didn't, good for you.  It's not your choice as to whether I look at porn or my kids look at porn.  And while the government should indeed discourage the type of promiscuity that can hurt others (spreading STDs, unplanned pregnancies, etc.), looking at porn is not one of those things.

Getting up and arms about it and taking our thoughts completely out of context makes you look ridiculous.

We are arguing that the choice about porn is up to us.  You are arguing that the government should "discourage it" by "making it illegal".  Personal morals that don't affect others are not for the government to enforce.  We live in a free country, not a Christian theocracy.

To me it looks opposite. What you guys propose is whats ridiculous. I have become accustomed to blowing my stack at what I see as an unfairness or double standard which is what I see here. Like Sbane or you claiming that I should shut up cause you think my points are ridiculous. When did you two get appointed the final arbiter of whats ridiculous? I think you guys are being pretty ridiculous arguing for what you do but I don't use that against you or call you ridiculous because I disagree with you. I give you that courtesy you should at least be able to return the favor.

Who said it was a crime to not look at porn? I don't; I wouldn't if it became legal. Your faux outrage is amusing.

I think I can guarrentee you one thing Xahar, the outrage is very real. Its the way the supporters of this bill have approached our position.  People who live good productive lives are looked down upon in today's society. In order to fit in you have have to be doing the above things.

Proof?

And LOL at me having "sole custody of the right ideas" because I am from California.

Why bother? You wouldn't pay attention anyway or fined some silly a**  way to discredit the author or article.

You seemed to act as if you think you do have all the right ideas, especially after the treatment I have received from you and your companions for opposing this bill. I get the same kind of elitist arrogance from you that I have gotten from Hamilton, Xahar, even PiT to some degree. It just gushes out in insufferable globs everytime you speak.

Hurray for freedom! Those who voted against this bill will not be forgotten on election day.

I hope that isn't a threat to mess with the election results. The Senate still has the oversight power to make your life miserable if you do.

I didn't give you any sh**t for opposing this bill, but rather for supporting that straw man bill Fritz came up with. I think those who opposed this bill had a legitimate viewpoint that I disagreed with. But just because we support this bill doesn't mean we want kids to be in pornos, or to start smoking weed, or walk the streets etc etc.

I was being sarcastic, dummy. Didn't you read that part of the post. I haven't taken a position on that at all to be honest. What I was referring to was all the accusations of hyporcracy like "Everybody looks at porn at 14", and "I highly doubt you didn't look at porn when you were 14" and on and on and on. I would call that, giving us some sh**t.
