With the recent expansion of police powers in the States, president Trump restricting immigration and deporting those from Latin American countries, do you think America is now less free even compared to more moderate communist countries like China?

I get the feeling OP has never visited China or talked about restrictions of freedom with Chinese people in Western countries.  While China sometimes seems to be moving forward, their government is still restrictive of basic freedom of speech/press rights, among others.

It makes complete sense. China is a "free country" relative to North Korea, but it's far from an actually free country.

The same. There are some "economic liberties" in China,  but politically - it's far more opressive then even Russia now.. Not even close.
