Wilson would've been annihlated even worse than Cox. As for those criticizing Harding's return to Normalcy, no one really knew that would entail the re emergence of the KKK, which was primarily an aftershock of the efforts of Wilson's own administration (The guy is the closest the US ever got to a KKK President without him ever donning the hood, the Cynical Historian has two great videos on Wilson's life that I highly reccomend). Return to Normalcy primarily meant a return to the days of Pure, Blissful Isolationism and the ideas of both Taft and Roosevelt (I.E., Hughes' ideas seeing as he was a moderate and a reformer). Also, people forget that a huge reason that the 1924 DNC was such a mess was because the initial front-runner, Wilson's son-in-law and Secretary of the Treasury during his administration, William Gibbs McAdoo, had connections with the Klan even if he wanted to disassociate himself with those connections. Both Parties had connections with the Klan, Both Parties have dirty hands in the 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s, and beyond. Both Parties had bad people. Now, can we keep that back and just discuss how badly Wilson would lose to Harding now?
