I wonder how specific the request was... there was some state where they polled with Fiorina in the mix. I forget what it was, something like Florida. Did someone request them to poll for that combination or were they just testing?

Good question which I don't have an answer.  It may have been a broad request for VP matchups or it may have been specifically tailored.  We can get Alcon to ask them, I guess.
