I would be very skeptical that the U.S. is at DEFCON 2 based on the reports of one private organization.

Russian based ETFs trading in USA confirm levels below 2016 and around levels of 2008-2009. RUB falls to 115 throughout the day as Russia steps up offensive which implies no early end to fighting.

Ukraine calls for Russia to be booted off the internet

Ukraine’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov sent a letter to the president of the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) on Monday.

He asked ICANN to revoke — either permanently or temporarily — the domains .ru and .su.

Russia will have no internet soon.

Don't count your chickens too soon.  I will be very very surprised if ICANN agrees to this action.

Facebook has been essentially shut down, but in that case, I would not term that a hindrance to any society.

If anything, it's a net positive for that society. Wink

Grain of salt because Rasmussen, but support for US entry into the war is both much higher than I thought, and without any partisan correlation.

Keep in mind that question wording in polls is important.  Clicking through (twice) brings us here, which shows the question as:

3* If a wider war breaks out in Europe, should the U.S. military be involved?

So the question amounts to, should the U.S. get involved if a wider war breaks out?  I don't think the level of support they find for that is surprising.  I suspect that support for entering into the war as it is now is much lower.

Can those of you discussing compucomp's views (and that includes him) please take it to a separate thread?  You are ruining this important thread for those of us who want to follow the actual war developments.

Another seizure of a Russian oligarch's superyacht, this time by France.

Quote
France has seized a yacht owned by Russian oligarch Igor Sechin, the French finance ministry said in a statement on Thursday.

Sechin is the CEO of Russian oil giant Rosneft. The European Union sanctioned Sechin earlier this week, describing him as one of Russian President Vladimir Putin's "most trusted and closest advisors, as well as his personal friend."

The yacht, named "Amore Vero" — or "True Love" in Italian — arrived at the French Mediterranean port of La Ciotat in January. It was scheduled to leave the port on April 1.

Microsoft suspends new sales of all products and services in Russia.

(Although it could be argued that this can only help Russia technologically... Wink

I think I might just stop posting on this thread or minimize, since it doesn't really appear anybody gives an "eff".

Maybe better to shift and share news to my social network on Facebook, where at least it will get a much greater reach both domestically and internationally.

I'm sure I'm not the only one who reads your posts in this thread with interest.  They are appreciated.  I don't usually comment on them because I don't have much to add to their content.
