I filled out my absentee ballot today, I voted Yes on Term Limits, Yes on Abortion, and Yes on Voting Rights, then I voted Democratic Party line.

Will never get used to the casual cruelty expressed towards ordinary people trying, however clumsily, to express themselves on political topics. Most often comes from those who think they have some special knowledge of politics which is really just a knack for memorization and excess time to obsess over it. Disgusting.

Serious VA-Sen 2014 vibes with this race. Dems are in for a surprise on election night.

Are you suggesting that Whitmer is going to win by a far closer margin than anticipated?

I don't get the comparison. Unlike Warner, Whitmer isn't sleepwalking through this race and has shown that she's taken this challenge seriously by spending August and September defining Dixon for voters while Tudor basically vanished off the map. If anyone is phoning it in, it's Dixon.

This is the one race and state I feel confident in.

D and D leaning turnout is going to be through the roof, if past abortion-centric contests are any indication. MI is battleground #1 for abortion rights this year.

I literally cannot fathom a world where it’s a 49 Whitmer / 48 Dixon race a la 2014 VA SEN. Other races/states? Sure. But this one… why?

wouldn't be surprised if Whitmer won by less than 10%. I believe she has this and will win, but she is unpopular with a large amount of people, she is polarizing, I could see a 53-45 win for her, like in 2018.

True, but Dixon seems like the type of candidate that would push even people who may dislike Whitmer a bit to vote for Whitmer. Dixon seems *that* bad

I guess I'll give her some credit for creativity.

Divine intervention is Dixon's only hope at this point.

Whitmer is indeed polarizing and part of that is owed to her ascent to national politics with the strict lockdowns and speculation over Biden’s running mate. It’s telling that out of all the democratic governors in the country, she was the one who was the target of a kidnapping plot by right wing terrorists. Considering how little national republicans have decided to invest in the race, Whitmer is favored, but certainly not by a safe or likely margin in a state that’s to the right of the nation as a whole.

Okay, thanks. Not trying to step on your toes, but I would suggest being specific with the warning or just messaging the infractor, rather than giving us all a vague sense of unease. I assume we're on your side here, given your agreeable moderation style.

Fair point.  In this case, if your post wasn't removed, it wasn't directed at you. Smiley

She joins Moore and Shapiro in having endorsements from law enforcement organizations. I want to say that maybe groups like these, that typically back Republicans (especially recently), draw the line at insurrection-adjacent or worse figures within the GOP like Dixon or Mastriano. And if that's the case I guess I'll give American law enforcement at least some credit for being somewhat consistent.

The Fraternal Order of Police in KY also endorsed Andy Beshear over Matt Bevin. (Well before the insurrection at that.) I honestly think these kinds of endorsements can be deal-breakers in tight races, and signs of an absolute landslide in races like this which weren't all that tight to begin with.

I’ll be honest, I never would’ve put “police unions become democrats” on my 2022 bingo card
