I don't like that we still have four circuit court vacancies without nominees (1st-ME, 4th-NC, 6th-TN, and 11th-FL). I think the TN Senators are being obstructive on purpose. Blackburn threw a fit over the other 6th Circuit seat being filled by a US Attorney that was confirmed by voice vote in 2022. I don't think anyone to the left of Roberts would be acceptable to Blackburn or Hagerty. Hopefully, Biden just works around them for the other 6th Circuit seat. We can definitely work with Collins on the ME seat. I think Democrats will likely have to work around the home state Senators for the 4th and 11th Circuit seats. If no other seats open up, Biden has the potential to hit 49 Circuit Court judges, nearly matching the Trump/McConnell machine.

Finally!

Good news indeed and there's even more good news. Biden recently announced a new batch of judicial nominees that includes a nominee to the 11th Circuit. On top of that, a Bush appointee on the 3rd Circuit (DE) announced his future retirement from the federal bench. If all current and impending vacancies are filled, that would be 50 circuit court judges from this President. It would also give Democratic-appointed judges nominal control of the 3rd Circuit. (As a side note, unfortunately, the nominee for the other 3rd Circuit vacancy seems to have hit some major roadblocks and may not be able to be confirmed. I think that's something that needs to be sorted out sooner rather than later.)

Roadblock being Islamophobic bigotry/Muslim-baiting by both of Nevada’s Senators and Manchin’s obnoxious “I will vote against any judicial nominee who doesn’t have at least one Republican backing them” schtick.

Yeah, it's quite troubling, to say the least. I'm aware of what Joe Manchin's doing and we only have to tolerate him for another eight months. Ultimately though, we can afford to lose him. I don't know wtf is going on with the Nevada Senators. Jacky Rosen is up for reelection and that makes people do terrible things (not that I'm making excuses, of course). I have no idea what CCM is doing. Right now, the right has a majority on the 3rd Circuit because this seat has not been filled.
