Sure, but if they get pregnant they can blame themselves for not worrying about it. Wink

Seriously though, if they really don't want to worry, then they should take the pill.

Exactly. Unfortunatley, that idea is not shared by a majority of people here.

Got nothing wrong with that idea. But the fact is, the majority of us would prefer they use birth control if they are going to have pre-marital sex. I answered the question which supposes they already are having sex.

No. Sex and pregnancy go hand in hand.  Im not saying pre-marital sex is a bad thing.  But you should be fully aware of the consequences.  My girlfriend (of 5 years) and I have agreed if she gets pregnant.  We get married.

or not have pre-marital sex
Does that same standard apply to men as well?

Absolutely. if they don't engage in pre-marital sex they won't be making women have 'unwanted' pregnancies. what are you looking for, some sort of gender inequality conspiracy?

By the wording of the topic, it just sounded like you thought it's only women who are responsible. But I understand what you are getting at now.

What do you think about women who have been raped. Do you think it's right for them to have an abortion?

-------------------------------------------

and please, don't make a big fuss over the wording of this question -you all know full damn well what i am asking.

I think that's kind of a ridiculous question.  It's not a matter of rights.  It's a matter of knowing that sex can and often does lead to pregnancy, and acting accordingly.  This is kind of like asking if a driver has a right to go 150 mph without worrying about what will happen if a tire blows out.  It's an absurd way of looking at it.  If a woman wants risk-free sex, she can get her tubes tied.  Other than that, I have no answer.

Yes, women should enjoy sexuality as they see fit.  Marriage need have nothing to do with it, and birth control or abortion are good methods of dealing with the undesirable pregnancy issue.  They should also be free to trade sex for money or make any other arrangements they wish to enter into voluntarily.

On a personal note, I abhor the idea that women would be celibate.

I believe that sex is one of the mystical experiences of life, one of the ways in which we begin to understand life differently. I certainly believe that everyone should have the right to participate in that experience without worrying about becoming a parent later.

opebo I'm pretty sure you won't need to worry about getting pregnant even if you do tell her your real name.

Men have always had the right to enjoy sex without worrying about getting pregnant.

But not necessarily the consequences of getting somebody pregnant, like the financial and emotional requirements of fatherhood.  Some men shirk those responsibilities, but they are still part of the picture.
