Mideast Assembly appointment

The election for Mideast Assembly is over and all votes have been tallied. You can view the results in this thread. I'd like to congratulate Inks, Njall, Must Crush Capitalism, Bmotley and Oldiesfreak1854 on their victories.

Should a vacancy arise in the Assembly at any point during the next session shua and JCL, who have just come short of winning a seat, will receive preferential treatment.

Following the promise I made right after the last Assembly elections, I hereby appoint JCL to serve the remainder of MCC's term. When Bmotley was removed from the Assembly I appointed shua, and this time it's JCL's turn.

This could actually become a relatively close race. It depends on the number of Mideasterners who'd rather see Averroes as Mideast governor than as president. Our president apparently prefers the former.

This is only my private opinion, but I consider it highly offensive to write in "Dr Josef Mengele" or "The people who ratted Ann Frank" above particular candidates you don't want to see elected. I think there are more appropriate ways to make such a statement.

Slight correction here- Siren's write-in for Shua doesn't count as a 2nd preference since Shua did not indicate anywhere he would accept write-in votes, so her vote technically second preferenced Njall. However, it appears that Siren received more 3rd preferences than Njall which would mean she still won the final seat.

I agree with Talleyrand. The correction is only minor and doesn't affect the outcome, though.
