Lean Genesis over SNES.  If for no other reason than the mid to late 90s NHL games.

I never got into Sonic much.  Mario could be fast, but it seemed to involve more strategy for the "hard" parts, whereas Sonic was just a twitch fest/muscle memory thing 75% time.



What was the Genesis game where you started on a continent with 1 or more other "civilizations".  And you had a number of dudes and you could leave them to multiply, or put them to building upgrades and mines and what not or on different science advancements.  I love/hated that funking thing.  The first levels were stupid easy.  Then it was kind of fun and balanced for a level or 2, and then BAM, impossible.
