And yeah, Phil is right. Bushie knows he's not being healthy when he eats an ice cream cone for dinner and 4 sloppy joes. Either that, or he's far dumber than I thought.

Getting more education is the right move IMO. The CAD in mechanics sounds good.

He needs to decide what he wants and commit to it, and from the sound of it, he still doesn't know what he wants to do. He was all in for the cad thing and now he's going to investigate other things. It's just a wild goose chase.

CAD is only 9 months its manageable and will help him no matter what he decides to do afterwards.

Yes. I'm just thinking of the cost/benefit involved. Theoretically he can get both a computer science and CAD degrees, but would they be worth the cost to him and his parents? Will he actually use them?

I remember evaluating the same thing when I was in undergrad, which is why I didn't bother with any liberal arts degrees. Tongue

I still say he should look into getting the Update published. It would be a groundbreaking piece of literature. The first truly 21st century work. A hundred years from now, it could be assigned to and completely unread by millions of students every year.

Those are both marketable degrees and useful, also in Kenya. And CAD wouldn't be that expensive. I am sure its a good investment.
Right now Jeff is stuck and having the wrong education is part of the problem and one of the easier elements to change.

God. No wonder you feel like crap physically all the time. You never eat anything light and healthy! Just fatty meat, carbs, and no vegetables whatsoever. And don't eat an ice cream cone for dinner.

Too late.

Do you have a death wish?

One ice cream cone is not going to kill me.

Read Phil's post.  You are completely missing the point.

I hardly even look at this thread and I know you make poor health decisions on a daily basis.  I'm not in control of your life, but I wish you would at least admit you have a problem and work from there.  Otherwise, your chances of living past forty are very dim.  I'm not saying this to be a jerk, I'm just telling you how it is.

For God's sake, Bushie. Would you like some of my family's recipes? They really don't take that long to make. Think proper noodles and pasta, fish, salads, soups, and yogurts, usually prepared according to Italian or Irish culinary principles. Also I'm trying to eat better snack food myself--I do quite well at actual meals, but I graze a lot and would like to continue doing so because of how my daily routine works--so I can give you advice on that, too, if you want it. It's not like we're asking you to subsist on hardtack and pemmican.

Duke and Politicus,

The CAD program at the vo-tech is only ~$2200 for the 9 months.  All it would cost me out of pocket is an extra year or two on my student loan.

I have to decide this week what I want to do because of time constraints, application deadlines, and such.  I'm going to Alva to investigate what I would need to do to upgrade my minor.

Scott and Nathan,

I know I have a problem and I know the ice cream wasn't the best choice for dinner.  The idea was to have as few calories as possible since I was almost out of calories for the day, I just had the wrong "low-calorie" item.  There's nothing I can do about the ice cream last night, but what I can do now is focus on trying to eat a little healthier going forward.  No one is telling me I have to change everything right now.  Rather, they are saying I need to change maybe one or two things at a time.

I appreciate the offer on family recipes, Nathan, but we know what to fix.

Anyway, I need to get ready to leave for Enid and Alva.  I want to leave here by 1530 and it is 1515 now.  I'll catch you when I get to Alva into the Motel.

Why exactly is he blowing money on a hotel.
Probably because his parents offered and it would be rude to say no Tongue Rather than just popping in unannounced, I would just send the person in question an email explaining the situation and asking for advice. But that's me. And it's been thoroughly established that I don't make good updates. So, carry on.

It would significantly increase the chance of success.  We can't have that.

Because that would be common sense.  As we should all know by now Bushie has none.

I know you know what to fix, but I'm not convinced you know how to fix it, and if you do you haven't so far exhibited the wherewithal to do so. I think knowing how to make food that's still decently rich and has some carbs but isn't a fatty mess is important at this point.

Ice cream was, in point of fact, possibly the worst choice for dinner. The sloppy joes would have been preferable as long as you didn't eat four of them again.

Mitty, I refuse to get a handicap placard because I don't want to take spots away from those who are really physically handicapped.  I am not physically handicapped. I'm a little fat, but it doesn't hurt me to walk.

Tomorrow, I will be getting my exercise by taking the kids to the zoo for 3-4 hours.  The zoo is mostly walking, so I will be able to walk for an extended period.

you take resources away from the indians when you arent an indian.

why would you be morally opposed to a handicapped placard?

He won't take a handicapped spot away from the truly handicapped, but he'll take money from those he "loves" to fund his porn.  #logic
