Yup. I mean, they are a highly political event, in pretty much every facet, but that shouldn't stop a Chinese hosting.

It was completely necessary for 2008 to go to Asia. China is one of the top olympic nations and put forward a strong bid.

As I pointed out though, the countries I mentioned would never be considered.

Can imagine the whining from American conservatives if Havana ever got the bid?

None of the countries you mentioned has anywhere near the investment capital to build the facilities to host the games so it's a moot point.
