I didn't know they denied healthcare to foreigners. Are you telling me they deny care over there if your just visiting and have an accident?
Just visiting and having an accident is different from actively going over to take advantage of the system.
I thought it was free. What's there to be afraid of?
*Roll eyes*
It isn't free, we pay for it by taxes. If you do not pay taxes in that country, you have to pay anyway. So if you have an accident in Sweden, Spain, Australia... add most of the countries that have universal healthcare, you'll have to pay afterwards. I know this because when an EU citizen travel to another country in the Union we have to have a special ID card with us to show that we are EU citizen, or we will have to pay for health care.
I purchased such a card when I went to Germany, so that if I was in an accident and needed to be taken care of, I wouldn't have to pay for it.
If an American want Swedish healthcare they can get it, but we're not letting you abuse our system. Sorry
EDIT: I also know this because my best friend went to New Zealand earlier this year, and since her sister is ill, it was brought up that she wouldn't get healthcare there for free. Fortunatley enough since their mother is from there so they have dual citizenship, so it all worked out in the end.
