The leaked exit poll numbers do not include absentees, and Mitt's folks thought they had to win today's voters by 2%-3% to pull it out, because McCain had the lead with absentees. So if the numbers are right, Mitt is near to being on the ropes.

Eh... maybe but it's still very close and who knows how accurate the exit polling really is.

Mitt better win though. If he loses tonight, McCain will almost certainly cream him on Super Tuesday.

MSNBC is releasing exit polls....47% think the econmy is the most important...with the war on terror coming in last at 13%.

69% of conservatives voted absentee, 46% were the elderly

Romney should do pretty well if those numbers are accurate.

Fox News:
For voters whose top issue is the Economy:
McCain 38, Romney 34, Huckabee 12, Giuliani 10
http://thepage.time.com/more-fox-news-exit-poll-results/

That's interesting...

Uh oh. Mitt's Last Stand?

Clinton is down to 52% from a high of 58% a while ago... if she gets below 50% by the time this is done, that's probably not a good thing.

For her you mean right?

It's still early but it's looking good for McCain.

I would guess that they would call the Democratic "race" at 8.

MSNBC just mentioned the Democrats for the first time since the polls closed. And now they're back to the Republicans.

Excellent.

Fox and CNN are all over it though.

If Obama keeps the margin the same as it is now, that would be fine.

Also, interestingly enough, the only religious group Obama won was those who attend church "more than weekly", although that might basically translate to "black people".

That's what I figured. Among Democrats, blacks are easily the most religious group.

Interesting.

64% think Clinton has attacked unfairly. 50% think Obama has attacked unfairly. Clinton had a big lead among those people who voted early.

A majority of voters thought Ted Kennedy's endorsement was at least somewhat important.

Tim Russert said ppl who voted in the last month preferred Obama. The crazy thing is that ppl have been voting absentee since mid-december, which I think is a little ridiculous.

Agreed. Obama would never have had a chance with those people.

A Clinton <50% win does not augur well for Feb. 5th...

Agreed but Obama needs to get his issues with Latinos under control somehow.

Obama is kicking ass in Tallahasse. Pretty odd, compared to Orlando.

Something is amiss in the Orange county numbers on the D side. There's a 30% showing for "other", and unusually low Obama numbers.

As I said above, they're recording a phenomenal Gravel performance there, more than triple Edwards's showing. There's no way that's the case.

You have to believe in the power of a mad man.

For the optimistic Obama (and Edwards) supporters, I hate to rain on the parade, but Broward and Miami-Dade are hardly in at all, and Palm Beach isn't in at all. By early numbers, Clinton will be destroying in Broward, and probably in Palm Beach, too. Obama's doing well in Miami-Dade, but Edwards's showing there so far is dismal, bad enough that it will boost Clinton.

That sucks, I guess.

So far, approx turnout with 30% reporting:
718,000 for the Democrats
870,000 for the Republicans

Pretty decent showing for the Democrats, considering it didn't mean anything and no one campaigned or had any GOTV effort.

Clinton had a GOTV effort.

For what it's worth it, it looks like the realclearpolitics.com polling average was pretty much dead on for the Democrats. It wasn't remotely close in NH or SC.
