A potential family emergency may take over half of my holiday time. My grandfather (on my mom's side, we call him Pop) had a heart attack and choking episode 2 days ago. Apparently, his trach tube (he had throat cancer before I was born thanks to heavy smoking, doctors gave him only months to live back in the 80's) got clogged up with something. He managed to call 911. Seems like his health, both mental and physical, has been deteriorating quickly since then.

I don't have too much of a relationship with him since my mom has cut off a lot of her family. The majority of them are crazy. My aunt killed herself almost 4 years ago now, and my uncle has been doing meth the past couple of months, if not years. He hasn't recovered since opening a gym a few months before the recession and losing nearly everything.

Sorry, went off on a tangent there. Anyway, the last time I saw Pop was 6 years ago. We were on our way to Key West and met up with him at Punta Gorda airport. All I hear about him is how he keeps sending my mom racist sh!t like re:re:re:re:re: OBAMA IS A MUSLIM N****R or some such bs. Anyway, we may have to take a week to go down there. It'll probably be our last chance to see him. Both my parents and I really would rather not do it, but like I said, it's probably our last chance.

Sounds tough.  Hope the trip goes alright.

Seems like it's not going to happen. No one is telling my mom anything, and apparently Pop doesn't want her calling in because he thinks she'll be mean to the nurses, or some such sh*t. So currently we have no f**king clue what's going on. This is totally in line with her side of the family too.

One Trumpy Boomer said im quote on quote one of the good ones, and would make a good cop (I think he was just put at ease by my whiteness lol), I am always honored when someone says something like that even if I don't view it as fully true.

Put £50 on Adrian Lewis to win... way too close for a 4/7 bet! What a thriller.

Christmas Day. Finished rewatching the 1984 “A Christmas Carol” starring George C. Scott. Truly some fantastic lines both from Mr. Scott and the gentleman who played the ghost of Christmas present (“In the eyes of Heaven, you are less worthy and fit to live than millions of these children!”). What’s interesting is that the conundrum of Mr. Scrooge—a man who shooed off everyone he loved for the sake of material security—seems so relevant today. Currently on “It’s A Wonderful Life”.

I'm starting to realize that I write with parentheses too much (mostly because I often have a lot of information to express in any given post and it's easier to break it up this way).

Well, I should be studying a lot more yet I am in Atlas a lot more than I should. Also the uncertainty about the future of many of my subjects is killing me; especially considering if I fail any of them this semester it is very likely my degree will take up to 9 months more.

I just took a 3 and a half day break from Atlas and I feel so relaxed, focused, and energetic right now. It’s weird that I can never be able to take this sort of break during the school year but I’ll take it.

I found Dom 2008 @ $140/bottle. Cheapest I've ever seen. It's probably stolen or smuggled or something like that, but at this price, I have to buy a case.
