Why would you want to distance yourself from Obama in a Democratic primary anyway? Last I checked he is still widely popular within the party.

Because he is a Rockefeller Republican in disguise as prominent Sanders backer Cornell West has said.

Does anyone even take Cornell West seriously? He is the Alex Jones of the Left.

That isn't the point ... It's whether he's shot himself in the foot

Doubt it, it's a good attack showing Clinton acting just like a pandering politician.

Uh, the thread title needs to be changed: that wasn't the quote. I actually got excited when I saw it, because I thought he actually did say it.

This isn't going to hurt Sanders in any tangible way. Black people, perhaps more so than most constituencies, know and recognize pandering for what it is. The question is whether it actually bothers them in the case of Clinton. The specific pandering - in the mainstream media at least - hasn't been challenged thus far. If this gains traction, we'll see if that age-old quality of honesty means anything. A SC political operative recently made the poignant comment about the four things black people want from politicians: "They want someone who loves God, won't lie to them, will protect America and will fight against racism".

As far as "a lot of people agreeing with Obama's policies" goes, it's mostly by default. People are OK with where we are right now, but if you think that there are more left-of-center people who don't want to keep pressing leftward on a variety of issues at the core of the Democratic Party than there are who do, then you're a raving lunatic. People knee-jerk to defend Obama because of the BS he has faced over the past eight years; not because he is a harbinger of progressive values and has taken us exactly as far left as we want to go without overstepping. Clinton - with blacks in particular - has been taking advantage of that concept.

This doesn't change anything, but I really wish he actually said that "Clinton is embracing Obamer to pandah tuh black voters." It would help him across the South next week and on Super Tuesday for the reason that Griffin stated.

“White power” the left-wing’s version of “Allahu Akbar”

That would also explain Bernie's outstanding polling in Oklahoma...

Bernie is running a subtly racist campaign to win over Southern whites. That's been obvious for a while now. It's like when he went to that BLM forum last week and whined that white folks need reparations too.

Why the surprise? Hillary if the Ric Flair of wrestling. She has no morals, bought by big money, will do anything to win. Her fans are also likely paid employees of Super PAC's as they can NEVER accept anything negative of her even if it is true or logical

Racist, maybe not. The man that thinks he's going to do better than Obama on race relations by taxing wall street and stopping black kids from hanging out on street corners is racially dismissive, yes.

Obama has been pretty terrible among race relations by doing nothing to help the income gap and poverty gap. Also in that quote he's talking about low income black unemployment which is terrible. He wants to help fix that and help more of them get a good paying job....how you find that somehow racial blows my mind.

Please change the thread title.

It would be interesting if Sanders made such a tone-deaf comment, but since he didn't, the quotes should go to show this is a paraphrase.

Sounds like his efforts to win over black voters aren't paying off.

Lol well whatever she's doing is clearly working better than whatever he's doing.

And yeah, Sanders was always in a tough position with Obama seeing as he's trying to run an anti-establishment campaign in a year with a president popular in his own party.  It wouldn't be surprising if many African Americans didn't take kindly to Sanders' attacks on the first black president.

Yeah. It would be a lot more damning if he weren't trying to to pander to them as well.
