Despite his advanced age, Reagan declared himself spry enough to seek a second term. However, with the Iran-Contra scandal occupying much of the first half of his term, it remained an open question whether Reagan could become the first two-term President since Eisenhower.

A generally successful governor who ran a mediocre Presidential campaign, or a man who caused irrevocable damage to numerous American institutions, exacerbated wealth inequality, and unnecessarily aggrandized flagging world powers. Tough choice...

President Ronald Reagan / Vice-President George Bush 231 47.9%

The first Orthodox President was elected in an incredible close election with record turnout.
