I hated Mary Louise Parker's character(I just don't like her in general).

Are you sure you are not gay or asexual?

Conception (2010) starring Leonardo DiCaprio. Very good.

Is that a prequel to Inception? Wink

That's my most recent as well.

Eraserhead: I found Shutter Island was too twist-based with the twist being a little too predictable to really work all the way, if you know what I mean?

I didn't know much of what it was about when seeing it beyond the basic premise and didn't spoil it for myself, so I found it more intriguing. I wasn't sure if it'd be a supernatural or conspiracy or psychological type movie that it all played with being at times. I agree the last twist kind of downgraded the scope of the story, but was interesting in a way, unlike the otherwise excellent State of Play where I felt the last twist kind of let the whole story down.

There's just something intriguing about developing a crush on someone old enough to be your mom. Which she is definitely hot enough to qualify.

That kind of twist is cool the first time you see it, but I had already seen it in another movie. Once you know it is on the table, so to speak, you are able to spot it fairly early.

Salt was cool.  Better than most of its type.

Salt reminds me of an underappreciated 1987 film...

Inception

I feel like I'm last person in the world to see this thing. It was quite complex but I certainly enjoyed it. I'm kind of surprised that this has caught on with the general public as much as it has though. I need to watch it again but I'll probably wait for the DVD to do that.

The Book of Eli - probably one of the best movies I've seen in a while. Very well done.

Two disturbing films:

The Piano Teacher by Michael Haneke
The Wicker Man

Both were movies rented by people I know that I borrowed from them on their recommendation and watched on my own as I was taking breaks from my thesis.

Very dark and weird, but enjoyable. The Piano Teacher was a very good movie, The Wicker Man less so, but both were worth my time.

Sense & Sensibility - One of the Jane Austen books I haven't read. It was quite good, the ending was slightly sudden, and they didn't do enough to show the bond between Hugh Grant and Emma Thompson in the beginning, but the acting was great and the set design/costumes were fantastic.

I loved this movie, in fact it is one of my favorites. If you watched on TV or Netflix, I advise getting the DVD as they do have deleted scenes that actually do show more of Elinor and Edward.

The original Wicker Man, or that hysterical Nicholas Cage remake?

I had no idea there was a hysterical Nicholas Cage remake! Shocked

The British original.

Bob Roberts (1992)

Had some interesting elements which were sadly underplayed and was in the end rather mediorce all round albeit not unwatchable as far as party political broadcasts for the Democratic party go. Jack Black is not the best actor in the world but he is sure better now than he was then.

I'm guessing they removed all the nudity from the American version as well?

I still never watched the remake all the way through - just some of the lulziest scenes. The original is a great film though.

The Silence of the Lambs (1991)

Strangely never this before. Yeah, great entertainment though I can't help but think this film had a bad influence on the American Film industry.

The King of Marvin Gardens (1972)

Very Underrated I think though I really need to see it again to be sure. It is the type of confusing dialogue-driven bleak 70s movie that no-one even tries to make any more. Jack Nicholson actually proves he can act and is actually a very good actor and not just playing the sad parody of himself that he has done in every film since... Chinatown(?)... well at least, The Shining.

I don't normally participate in this thread, but I just got back from an advance screening of Scott Pilgrim vs. The World. Given how likely it was to suck, I was totally blown away by the fact that it didn't.
