A really weak politician, but probably a good guy personally.

A pretty dull and "moderate" technocrat of a governor, but as mentioned, a weak and awkward politician who was easily painted by the Bush/Atwater machine as a "tax-and-spend Massachusetts liberal" who was soft on crime and enable of the Willie Horton murderers. I'll vote FF just for his opposition to death penalty after being asked a ridiculous and biased debate question involving his wife being raped and murdered at a time when crime was high and so was support for capital punishment.

FF, but wouldn't have voted for him.
This.  My mom was paralyzed in a bad car accident while working on his presidential campaign, and he came to visit her in the hospital after a campaign event.

This, basically. I'm really not a fan of his "competence not ideology" style of politics, but I respect him for maintaining his opposition to the death penalty in the face of all the vile attacks he received.
