According to Wahl-O-Mat, I am *checks notes* somehow a left-wing Catholic conservative

A bit late, but I profusely apologize for hacking your device while taking the test. Tongue

On the other hand I wonder who is hacking mine, because I keep getting the Greens higher than the SPD and I don't particularly like that...

The maps just posted by Clarko are really nice, thank you. One could discuss about the potential breadth of this year's SPD strength, but in all honesty most of all they seem to be goading one into a conversation about "What's the matter with Saxony?".

Any chance of an SDP-FDP-Linke coalition? That would be my preference

Sorry to pile on but let me just say: this will definitely never happen but even if it happened we can assure you that the problems of somehow keeping together the radical leftist party descended from the SED and the right-liberal party would make whatever drawbacks the Greens have (which is presumably what brought you to formulate this bizarre preference) look vanishingly small in comparison.

Looks like every updated projection gets better for the SPD. They've probably got this. FDP also going up, and Greens and AfD are going down.

Still no chance of an SPD-FDP-Linke coalition?

There never was one. FDP and Die Linke are just absolutely incompatible.

Lindner and Wissler both seem young, cool and full of new ideas. Was hoping they could put together some kind of libertarian socialist coalition.

Listen, the first time you brought up this silly idea a few weeks ago (and showed your ignorance either as to what "libertarian socialism" means or to what kind of parties FDP and Die Linke are or likely both) we did not dogpile you just because. This is legitimately a very stupid take and it's seriously a bit sad that you did not use this time to learn more about German politics.

So far as I can tell, there doesn't seem to have been a great electoral variation between Franconia and Bavaria proper. Is this normal? I'm aware that there's still a fair degree of cultural difference between the two regions and that Franconia has a much larger Protestant population, but I don't know if that factors through into voting intention at all.

Well if you squint you can still perceive a certain variation between Franconia and the rest of Bavaria, but fundamentally yes, both are an almost endless landscape of safe CSU districts and have been for quite a while [outside of the two big cities of Nuremberg and Munich of course].
Upper Franconia in particular, but also Middle Franconia around Nuremberg in good years, used to be fertile enough ground for the SPD to win direct mandates, but those times are long gone; Coburg and Hof still went red in 1998 but that's about it. Perhaps it lingered on more at the local level - the city of Bayreuth had only SPD mayors continuously from 1948 to 2006 for example.

Left Party has nominated former refugee sea rescue vessel captain (formerly arrested by Italian authorities) Carola Rackete as lead candidate for the 2024 European election. This as much as a spiritual antithesis to Sahra Wagenknecht as you can possibly get.... up to the point that you might construe it as a final "get the f**k out" message to Wagenknecht.

LMAO. Now that's a name I had not heard in a long time. I wonder if Salvini (or more likely Meloni, given Lega has crashed since their heydays when the Rackete incident happened) will try to use this fact in the 2024 campaign here.
