My uncle is a physician and I haven’t been able to figure out if he was there or not. He called Fox News traitors. My other uncle physician whose from the UK is also the only British person I’ve met who doesn’t like the NHS

I went against my better judgement and tuned into CNN to see their coverage. They were interviewing a Texas "militaman" at the state house. Really learned their lesson I see.

Pelosi ought to investigate Cawthorn, Boebert, and Taylor-Greene at minimum to get to the bottom of this. If a long time representative is making known to the public he is afraid for his life by his colleagues then there needs to be a deep and thorough investigation. He wouldn’t go out and say this if he and others didn’t truly believe it

What would happen if “several” lawmakers were indicted or convicted? They stay congresspeople, sure... I guess they vote by proxy if need be? They wouldn’t be able to campaign.

It's very likely that the House would vote to expel any members that were convicted of crimes related to the attack.  It requires a 2/3 vote of the members.

The fact I’m not sure that there would be the votes to expel is terrible

In an incredible twist of irony, the rejection of masks among people on the right is proving to be the reason most of these rioters are being identified and arrested. You’d think they would have had some idea that maybe it’s a good idea to conceal your identity while committing felonies in front of literally thousands of cameras. But it works!

Interesting article about who the rioters are. Most of them have no known ties to any sort of extremist groups. A lot are professionals or small business owners, and very few were unemployed. And the majority were from urban or suburban counties. And based on that, I would assume the majority probably went to college.

AKA anything but the stereotypical racist hick Trump supporter. I honestly wonder what it is about Trump that draws people like this to him. I have never seen this degree of cultish behavior towards any other American politician.

This is honestly the exact type I expected. The “racist hicks” are quite frankly too poor to try to stage a coup and lack the privilege to have such Gaul. I assumed it was mostly middle class white people with too much time on their hands so they let they’re brains get turned to goo by binging conspiracies. Anecdotally the staunches trump supporters I know are surgeons, or other post-graduates types.
