I think this is all the counties I've been to or driven through (might have missed a few from my childhood).  For some reason I can't seem to embed the image in the post.

This summer I completed visiting all the counties in NJ, MD and WI. There are 2266 counties visited in 49 states, and 16 states (+DC) where all the counties have been visited.

Red for residences (at least 2 months including mail received). Dark blue for overnight stay (4 or more continuous hours of sleep not in a moving vehicle). Light blue for intentional destinations. Green for drive through (including meal stops). Yellow for train, boat or airport only.

Here's the state level view.

90% (resided): IL, IA, MA, MN, NE, NY, TX
80% (6 or more visits): AL, CA, CO, CT, DE, DC, FL, GA, IN, KS, KY, ME, MD, MI, MO, NH, NJ, NC, OH, PA, RI, SD, TN, UT, VA, WI, WV
70% (5 visits): AR, MS, OK, VT, WA, WY
60% (4 visits): AZ, ID, MT, ND, SC
50% (3 visits): NV
40% (2 visits): LA, NM, OR
30% (1 visit): HI
not yet visited: AK
If blue, then all counties have been visited in the state

Red = residence, blue = stayed the night, green = intentional destination, yellow = drove through.
By year:
Red, 90% - 2000s (New England-ME/NY)
Red, 80% - 2010 (ME)
Red, 70% - 2012 (NJ/DE/MD/VA/NC/SC)
Red, 60% - 2014 (PA/WV)
Red, 50% - 2019 (GA/FL)
Gray - Haven't been yet (all others)

Going to do a county-dump a year's end, but here are states:

Dark blue: Lived in >1 year
Light blue: Lived in <1 year

Dark red: Purposeful visit
Light red: drive through (including meal stops)

Here's a finer gradation in a Muon-style map:

90: Residence
80: 60+ days
70: 30 - 59 days
60: 14 - 29 days
50: 5 - 13 days
40: 2 - 4 days
30: 1 day or less

This year I completed visiting all the states by visiting AK. I finished visiting all the counties in MI, WV, MN and MO. There are 2401 counties (or equivalents) visited in all 50 states, and 20 states (+DC) where all the counties have been visited.

Red for residences (at least 2 months including mail received). Dark blue for overnight stay (4 or more continuous hours of sleep not in a moving vehicle). Light blue for intentional destinations. Green for drive through (including meal stops). Yellow for train, boat or airport only.

Green = Lived there
Blue = Did something there
Red = Traveled thru there

Update:

New Mexico, Arizona, and California are added due to my honeymoon back in 2017.
The change in Ohio is due to my remembering that back on my trip to Michigan as a teenager, it included a stop at the USAF Museum at Wright-Patterson instead of just a drive on I-75.

California probably ought to be purple, since the end of my honeymoon involved traveling from Flagstaff to Los Angeles on the Southwest Chief, but that was the only thing we did in California besides catch a shuttle bus from LAX train station to LAX airport, where we caught a flight back to ATL. (The outbound flight had been ATL to PHX, tho I'd originally intended ATL or CLT to ALB, but going to PHX was much cheaper, and my schedule didn't allow for the one thing that had caused me to seek Albuquerque as a possible starting off point for our roadtrip in the great southwest, as the Isotopes were away the weekend of our wedding.)

Following up on a thread from last year:

Red >50% = states I've lived in
Red >30% = states my parents have lived in since I moved out
Blue >50% = states I remember spending at least a night in
Blue >30% = states I've been told I have spent a night in (but I was too young to remember)
Green >50% = states I've visited by road but haven't spent a night in
Green >30% = states I've switched planes through but otherwise have never been in

I'll turn Arkansas Blue >50% on Saturday, which, by my count, will be the 30th state I'll have spent at least a night in.  By the end of the year, I hope to have Washington State Blue >50%, South Carolina Green >50%, and North Carolina Blue > 50% Smiley

If I don't end up getting the flights to Panamá I'm hoping to buy today, my backup is to turn Tennessee and Kentucky Blue 50% and West Virginia Green 50% for spring break.  I also hope to turn Washington state Blue 50% this year, too Smiley

Update!  Using the same key, but minus the "my parents have lived there since I moved out", because, meh, I haven't lived there.

Slowly things are falling into place! Smiley

Obviously, not a lot happening a pandemic year, with one particularly notable exception!

Using verin's key:
Red >50% = states I've lived in
Blue >50% = states I remember spending at least a night in
Blue >30% = states I've been told I have spent a night in (but I was too young to remember)
Green >50% = states I've visited by road or rail but haven't spent a night in
Green >30% = states I've switched planes through but otherwise have never been in

My top choice job this summer is in Denver, so hopefully I’ll turn that blue soon. Montana, Alaska, Washington & Oregon are all on the bucket list and (now that I live out here) much more achievable. Would like to cross off Minnesota some time soon too.

I have been in 17 regions out of 20, all but Abruzzo, Molise and Apulia.
However I don't think I ever seriously stopped in Basilicata, and I have only vague memories of a couple others.
