Chafee would actually make for a perfectly fine President. #hottake

Eh, he'd be better than many (most?) realistic alternatives on policy, but his political instincts and temperament leave a lot to be desired.

That's true. I just don't value those aspects too much right now, because even friggin' LBJ wouldn't be able to get anything done with the pathetic excuse of a Congress we have (and likely will have until 2022 at least).

I like Chafee but I couldn't vote for him outside of maybe a primary, to be completely honest. Sure, if it was Chafee versus someone I really detested like Jindal or Rubio, but what an international embarrassment it would be for him to be our ceremonial figurehead. I wish he had more of a spine.

Ftr, resume alone doesn't make one automatically "qualified"

Buchanan is a weird example to use here. He was easily one of our most qualified Presidents. He's a much better example to use if you were arguing that well-qualified does not necessarily translate to good. Obviously, to be a good President, it's more important to have good decision making skills and policy positions than it is to have good qualifications beforehand. And if there's a candidate who parallels Buchanan this cycle--one who seems well qualified but whose decision making skills and policy positions are questionable--it's definitely Clinton, not Johnson.

He isn't ideally qualified (being a governor has been overblown as presidential experience) but it's not like I'd eliminate him from contention based on inexperience or his small gaffes. The idea that people are going to switch to Trump because of the recent stuff Johnson said is pretty absurd.

Indeed.  The straw grasping from both sides at Johnson supporters is very comical and ham handed.

He is more qualified than Trump and Clinton, that's for sure.

Someone post another one, but I can't think of who would fit.
