The fact that they are authoritarian is easy, but I don't think they really qualify as communists anymore in terms of the state owning all industry..

I don't think they count as fascistic, they don't seem to meet many of Eco's criteria on that, though they would curently be heading toward that position on the Nolan chart (or political compass, or any similar chart).

We may need a new term to describe semi-capitalist/corporatist authoritarianism of this nature.

Its only politically communist. It stopped being economically communist as soon as Mao died in 1976. By 1979 Deng was visiting the US, being photographed in 10 gallon hats, and starting the economic ties between our country that exist today. Not that those ties are necessarily bad, just uneven.
