Conservative by Canadian standards doesn't mean conservative by American standards. Even the conservatives in Canada strongly support universal health care. Ted Cruz would have no chance.

If Ted Cruz were a Canadian politician who had grown up in Canada and come up through the Canadian political system, he would probably have to at least pretend to support universal healthcare.
Well, yeah. It’d be politically suicide to oppose it.

Which just goes to show how depraved and brainwashed the US is. Here supporting UHC is political suicide.
