Could he be elected to any seat of their provincial parliament or even the federal one??? I am talking policy wise of course. Let’s say he kept his citizenship and had run there. Alberta is of course a conservative province.

Conservative by Canadian standards doesn't mean conservative by American standards. Even the conservatives in Canada strongly support universal health care. Ted Cruz would have no chance.

Ted Cruz would be electable in rural Alberta, might have issues getting selected in Calgary and would be dead in the water in Edmonton.

If Ted Cruz were a Canadian politician who had grown up in Canada and come up through the Canadian political system, he would probably have to at least pretend to support universal healthcare.

Well, yeah. It’d be politically suicide to oppose it.

Ted Cruz is off-putting but bombastic, and the revealed preference of Canadian conservatives is for people who are off-putting but also dweebs.

Which just goes to show how depraved and brainwashed the US is. Here supporting UHC is political suicide.

Outside the northeast, as there it isn’t political suicide.
