Agree. It's normal in a plea deal, to include requirements to share information/data/evidence, that implicate the other parties.
Is it not?

Yeah, they tend to involve full cooperation.

“He never committed statutory rape against me, an adult!”

How do we know they're adults?

A House Republican has called on Gaetz to resign. No points for guessing who:

I figured Kinzinger would be the first. Whether or not you like his politics, there's no denying that he has integrity.

Lincoln, Logan, Dirksen, Michel, Percy, Thompson, Porter, Edgar, Kirk, Dold and Kinzinger, among others.

Illinois Republicans have done pretty well for themselves, if you ask me.

Being a RINO isn't integrity.

Aside from the ones that went to jail, sure.

Illinois has also contributed the loathsome Dennis Hastert, but yes, he's the exception to the rule.

There have been some (George Ryan, Hastert), but the state's infamous corruption is more a problem with Democrats.

Well, I'm Schocked that some others didn't get jail time.  You also may want to google Dan Crane.  God knows you've got some elected kooks downstate who are anti-democracy supporters too.

Anyway, back to the topic at hand, while the "anonymous" women of Matt Gaetz's office write their support the named male members of his staff are fleeing.

Does anyone have a clear sense for what crimes Gaetz could realistically be charged with in this case?

There are now a lot of pretty credible allegations that he has done a whole bunch of disgusting stuff.

But it is unclear to me how any of this is obviously a crime, especially a federal crime.

I mean, you could make a theoretical argument that it violates multiple prostitution-adjacent federal laws, but only in such a tenuous way that I doubt anyone would reasonably expect a conviction on any of it.

If he brought underage girls across state lines (or international borders, since a Bahamas trip has now been mentioned) for sex, that's the very definition of sex trafficking, a Federal crime.

I feel like there are additional elements to this crime that are being left out. Like, my impression is that they only apply to "commercial" sex.  And how exactly would you establish that someone was being brought across states lines "for sex"?

I mean, if we feel as a society like it should be a crime for a 37-yo to sleep with a 17-yo, we should make that a crime (and I wouldn't be opposed to it).

But if it isn't a crime for a 37-yo to sleep with a 17-yo, it shouldn't be a crime for a 37-you to buy a 17-yo dinner.

And if you're trying to prosecute the dinner rather than the sex, that deserves to be called a witch hunt.
