This is the most interesting take I have read on him:

I’d vote HP but he would take it as a compliment. His entire identity is formed around being a calculating and unempathetic individual who only sees things based on “rationality” (a subjective term in itself, sorry positivists). Of course if the tables were turned and he or his son was the one being human trafficked for some investor halfway across the globe, he’d probably think differently but I don’t think he would even disagree with me on that.
If we are being completely honest, he probably has some deep rooted reasons for wanting to detach himself from basic human emotion, but that’s not my place to speculate. I think Jaichind is an identity he made for himself possibly back in childhood for who knows what reason, and it has been his farce so long it has turned into his true person, and that’s tragic for both those who know him, and the person himself. So he doesn’t get a vote from me, I am not feeding this persona.

I concur with the entirety of this post, with the caveat that he demonstrates a greater-than-surface-level understanding of Chinese history in his analyses of TW and HK election results. I never interacted with or cared about the Int'l GD megathreads enough to put him on Ignore.

Honestly, I really hope the Asian election threads can gain some independence from him now. From what I could tell, his analysis was largely pretty surface-level; his dominance over the threads was mostly due to him being willing to regularly trawl through some English-language headlines across a number of countries. I think it's pretty reasonable to expect that the forum will be perfectly able to continue doing that in aggregate.

Very few have sympathy to his politics. They aren't too strange for someone of his background and class but that doesn't really do much to help him here.
Like in Japanese political terms he personally supported Ishin no Kai. I can't think of any other person who actively supported them. The typical red avatar backs CDP or JCP or Reiwa. I and a smattering of other posters support the LDP remaining in charge (for a variety of reasons). The fact he backs Ishin reflects him having a particular worldview and unique views widely viewed as off putting. As much as I greatly enjoyed his contributions and respect him greatly, even I saw a negative view of some other elements of him to the point I can't really vote FF here. I have to wonder where the FF votes are coming from a bit, most likely it's from people who don't hate him and/or like his record of posting.
