Will Akin distract Romney/Ryan's pre RNC week?

Now Akin is tweeting that he's staying in while consultants say otherwise. One huge clusterfark.

Twitter now saying that replacements being floated by the MO GOP are Talent, Schweich and Bond.

Brunner/Talent/Schweich are all being considered. Any of them would be a slam dunk.

The closest parallel is probably Clayton Williams in 1990. Except what he said was even worse and being only a few days out, Ann Richards was elected Guv.

The only reason I could think of is that if Akin still doesn't withdraw after Romney tells him to get out then the MSM will paint Romney as weak.

Romney and Ryan, among others, have called him personally. Ryan and Cornyn multiple times. TPE and Levin also want him out. Romney needs to call Huckabee and ask for a favor. There are conflicting reports about whether Akin's on Morgan- last I heard that was cancelled.

Huckabee has to do something. Or else they should just run an independent Republican*, throw everything behind that person and hope he craters like Dan Maes did in Colorado.

*Not Brunner or Steelman because MO has sore-loser laws.
