If Democrats had any political sense (they don't) they'd ram this through ON DAY ONE while the focus is still on the insurrection.  They can tie it to the insurrection while emotions are high and say DC needs more autonomy over its policing.  What are republicans whining about unity going to say?  700,000 people in DC don't deserve representation in congress.  RAM IT THROUGH NOW or quit your jobs as politicians.

If Democrats don't use their raw power to push this through while in the majority then they've learned nothing over the last 2 decades and don't have their own constituents backs.

If D's net gain seats and get a Supermajority, Tester, Sinema, and Manchin will all vote in lock step with D's, since they are all up in 2024, Sinema is co sponsor of HR 1

They are not getting a supermajority.  But this is right.  DC statehood isn't going to happen unless Democrats expand their senate control by at least a couple of seats (and also retain the house).
