The GOP would be dominant in the short term but the Democrats would adjust and after 6-8 years in the Wilderness, things would be 50/50 again. The Reason is getting this result for the GOP would have to make them change some of their policies which then would inevitably cause some voters to get upset and move to the Dems.

This is what has basically happened every time a party has seemed dominant since the late 60s and would happen again.
