The Liberty Caucus was founded by Joseph Hughes, candidate for Northeast Assembly, in order to promote libertarian ideals and philosophy in order to advance the cause of liberty.  The first order of business is to find a second member....

Our platform:
We are fiscally conservative, in favor of indexing spending to inflation, (and preferably keeping it below that), we are for gay rights, and we take no position on abortion; pro-life and pro-choice libertarians are both welcome to join and equally respected.  We believe that the RPP needs a libertarian facelift, and that liberty is a single unit, composed of civil liberties and economic freedoms, and that both are essential.  Now we will vote on the new symbol:

I'm in favor.  Any opposition?  No?  Okay.

Just a friendly suggestion: it's better to wait for a certain number of members to join your caucus before you start working on things like logos, platforms, etc.  In fact, I believe caucuses have to have a certain number of members before they're officially recognized.
Alright thanks Smiley

Also I'd choose something other than a government statue for your symbol.

yeah.  I think this would be better anyway.

Glad to have you Wink

Good luck with your caucus! It doesn't make a lot of sense for me to join this caucus because I'm no libertarian on social issues, but there are enough RPPers who could subscribe to the platform you've outlined. The RPP is composed of many libertarian-minded guys.

Thanks ZuWo! Wink

Great Smiley. So guys, are you okay with the above platform?  (ex. Do you think we should be ambiguous about abortion?, etc.)

I take the James Buchanan position on abortion: It's murder but I don't see how we can stop it in a way that isn't too far reaching or results in a slippery slope.

If that makes any sense.

Yeah this is my position basically.
^^^^
But other than that are you guys good?  Any additions, comments, suggestions, etc.?  I'm kinda new to this

Alright does anyone want to provide a symbol for us, or is the Statue of Liberty on the opposite page okay?

Usually it's best to take a neutral position on certain issues if not everyone agrees to something.  Again, just some friendly advice.
Thanks for the advice Scott.  I'm still new to this whole thing Wink

The caucus should be neutral on abortion, but I am pro Life. Sorry it took me so long to respond.

It's okay Wink

The running dogs of the federal establishment require that all Liberty Caucus members be RPP, unfortunately. If you want, you can apply to be an honorary member. Smiley

?  Are there rules?  He could just become an independent and caucus RPP, right?

You could always rewrite your bylaws to circumvent that like the Right-to-Life Caucus did.

How would I do that?  Just change the rules myself?

I guess you could technically do that (if you don't have any bylaws at all right now), but consent of the people is always a good idea.

Alright let's put it to a vote; all members, should we allow in non-RPP people to help broaden the Big Tent?

Not to be pushy, but For those of you in the northeast I'd be much obliged if you vote for the Government Responsiblity Act of 2012.  For those of you who aren't in the NE, please introduce similar bills to your respective legislatures to get big government out of our hair.  Here's a link:

I'm running for the NE Senate seat up for special election tomorrow; I realize I am entering late and don't expect to win, but I don't want an unopposed candidate.  I would appreciate your support.

If/when the RPP dissolves, would the new Liberty Party be amenable to merging with the remnant of the Populares?  I'll suggest the name "Popular Liberty Party" (PLP).

I don't mind doing so, but I would like to change an established party from the inside, and even better, a party that will be in the works, though we can decide on that when we hear more.  I hope we can bring all remaining populares under our big tent, maybe theyll even help us stack the deck against the more establishment RPPers
