Whaley is still favored for the nomination, I guess?

It's Likely R anyway, perhaps Lean R if DeWine is replaced by a far right candidate. That said, Dems haven't occupied the Governor's Mansion in Columbus since 1991 for all but 4 years and there's little reason to believe that will change in 2022.

Trump reportedly planning to announce which candidate in this race he will endorse any day now.
It'll likely be Renacci, given Trump supported him in the past and the fact that Trump dislikes DeWine.

He just doesn't like losers... oh, wait.

I don’t see how Renacci can win at this point.

Yup, though DeWine may have been beatable with a stronger primary challenger. I dunno why they're betting on a dude that already lost.

Why do people assume DeWine would have lost a one-on-one primary? Sure, his margin would have been closer, but it's very bold to assume he wouldn't have gotten the additional 1.9% missing for an absolutely majority.
