Maternal grandfather (born 1910s, died in 93) - briefly a card-carrying socialist; voted for FDR, Adlai Stevenson, JFK (and Bobby/Ted in primaries) and John B. Anderson. Nonvoter for rest of his life.

Maternal grandmother (born 1920s, died in 2003) - She liked Catholics and Illinois politicians more than she had any specific ideology. Voted for Stevenson, all three Kennedys, and Anderson. Nonvoter rest of her life.

Paternal grandfather (born 1920s, died in 95) - Conservative Democrat. Big supporter of the Daley machine in Chicago. Voted straight D every year except for the Eisenhower years. I think he abstained when McGovern was on the ticket; he hated Nixon but talked way more $h!t about hippies.

Paternal grandmother (born 1930s, died in 2016) - Less political than her husband but more outwardly racist. She didn't vote every year, but she voted straight D when she did. I was pleasantly surprised when she voted for Obama 08 given her racism, but she was pretty senile by that point and Illinois bias helped sway her. She liked Bush in 04 because of 9/11 paranoia but I don't think she actually voted.
