Some guy from Florida drew this comparison on his Instagram profile and captioned it using the following words:

"DEMOCRATS if you want to stay in power, you BETTER DO SOMETHING"

What's your opinion on this comparison and statement? Valid or lame?

I see this comparison a lot now. Seriously just asking, what is that "something" people want done? Take over the oil companies like a dictator? Magically ramp up oil production to replace that lost by Russia and supply chain issues? We live in a free market society run by supply and demand. Supply is down due to the war in Ukraine. Maybe we should demand less.
Oil companies are posting billions of dollars in profits across the board. If the uneducated think Biden can set gas prices, can he also set how much you charge per visit for one of your clients in your business? Can he set the price of a movie? Can he tell 7/11 how much to charge for a bottle of water?
Granted, Democrats are going to get the blame, but oil prices are high worldwide and there is no easy solution with the entire Russian supply cut off.
Consumerism is controlled by industry standards and supply/demand rules. Disappointing to see such a fallacy being spouted there. 😡

PS: Sorry for my "non-understandable prose"!

Option 10. Gas prices are Putin's fault, not Biden's. It's because of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Biden has done his absolute best and he'd get flack from the right no matter what course of action he chose to take (and this WAS the best course of action to take, pretty much the only really feasible one too).

It’s amazing how people compare gas prices to when COVID was in full swing. Plus, how come that gas prices throughout the entire world are at an all-time record high while those countries aren't blaming BiDeN and the DeMoCrAtS? 😂

Americans just need to suck it up. There should be absolutely no government efforts to bring down the price of gas, and if anything, fuel taxes should be raised higher.

Germany did the exact opposite: The government cut the energy tax for petrol and diesel, having become effective on June 1. The price-cutting lasted exactly two days; on the third day the effect lost impact. Thanks to that adverse impact we taxpayer now line the pockets of the oil industry, against which every economist had cautioned during the preliminary stages. Now the government is busily trying to undo the damage they caused owing to their quick fix. 🤬

I don't get why Congress doesn't cut the gas tax, that's the usual response and it helps people out in this really tough and unusual time. It could always be a temporary cut. If highway funding is the problem, a functioning legislature would just get the funding from somewhere else.
