Day isn't even over yet.

How many times do I have to say it. Your argument is invalid unless you are comparing it to like every other day at this exact time.

Dane County will continue to keep the restrictions.

The lockdown was supposed to end after the U.S. peaked. Most areas peaked one to five weeks ago. Glad there is some bipartisan agreement. 👍

of the 10 states whose data are available on worldometers only the Louisiana has peaked

Testing surges are a thing. Case positive percentage is the only acceptable metric.

🙄

There will eventually be a vaccine or new anti-virals that will help with this.

The WHO has a clear agenda of decreasing morale, it’s just apparent at this point.

Summer has arrived on the east coast. You think I’m staying in? HAHAHAHAHAHA....

I don't think anyone is going after outdoor activities.

Who cares? Life has risks. Do you make a graph for every other possible illness you might get before leaving your house? This remains all so ridiculous.

I mean if you want to live in a world of delusion be my guest I have no sympathy for people like you if you get it

Anyways in some good news
https://www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/2020.05.13.093195v1?fbclid=IwAR1Xb79A0cGjORE2nwKTEvBb7y4-NBuD5oRf2wKWZfAhoCJ8_T73QSQfskw

The ChAdOx-CoV2 vaccine candidate so far doesnt appear to cause ADE and prevents SARS pneumonia in rhesus macaques and they believe they could possibly go into trials with health care workers and general Phase III trials next month

I still haven’t heard anything real about getting the human challenge trials moving that will accelerate the testing of these potential vaccines.  This seems like such a no-brainer to me.  I signed up to potentially participate on the 1 Day Sooner website, and strongly encourage other healthy people to do so demonstrate the willingness and demand for this.

They already said they arent doing challenge trials

A sad week for the developing World....
It does raise the question as to where Covid-19 will remain even long after we get a vaccine.

Africa, India, Central America. To be expected.

I'm sure new strains will develop over time, like the flu. We could see a COVID-23 etc. The one thing scientists agree on though is that any new strains will be less deadly than the original, so I wouldn't see it as a concern.

France has "neutralized" the virus? They're still reporting a few hundred new cases a day (with a terrible and very limited testing regime so they are inevitably missing more cases than most countries) and an average of close to a hundred deaths a day. That's not neutralized.

It's bottomed out and it hasn't gone back up, I would say that's neutralized.

https://www.msn.com/en-us/lifestyle/lifestyle-buzz/how-long-are-we-going-to-be-wearing-masks-we-asked-the-experts/ar-BB13nolJ

Some experts expect mask wearing to be heavily encouraged until Nov 2021 (18 months) - the general time frame most experts expect a fully functional vaccine to be fully distributed. I still don't know if I buy it

The midline scenario for a vaccine is winter-spring 2021. The fact MSN doesn't know that is all you need to know about their credibility.

Yippy skippy. The Centers for Disease Control recommend wearing them.

After the CDC rejected the WHO's tests and used its own botched tests instead, I don't place very much faith in the CDC.

I just love how instead of making sure we had enough tests, everyone just resorted to authoritarian measures instead.

The WHO is a puppet of the Chinese government.

Disney will now make masks mandatory indefinitely for access to any of their parks, or properties. They will also enforce social distancing and check temps of every guest who enters, as well as reduce capacity by probably as much as half as part of their negotiations with the workers unions.

No timetable on when they will reopen, but they are accepting reservations for July 1st and later.

CEO Bob Chapek said people will have to get used to the new culture of wearing masks in the park because the rules might be kept in place even after the virus is handled with a vaccine or what ever

Huh Why? What's wrong with these people?

This virus shows up at the perfect time to get Trump re-elected.

Trump was on track to win but it appears the virus may prevent that.

Explain?  This seems counterintuitive.  He can still win, but his path clearly seems harder now.

People will be too scared to vote in person, and mail-in voting is not going to be expanded.

A second wave likely won't hit until December so I don't think people will be too scared.

Deaths are always lagging, so they could be just catching up still. The case increase is not too much, basically flat.

What website do you use?

Lmao reopening is exactly what this country should be doing. The states that reopened are no worse off than the states stuck in lockdown and the lockdown is ruining the economy everywhere. But muh 80 year olds I guess

True, but then again, most of the states, at least the big ones, that are reopening are in the south where heat is prevalent.

Another report from my job, and one alarming indicator that has become more ubiquitous than before. Today, the store (Home Depot) was exceptionally busy, probably the busiest it has been since this whole crisis unfolded. The store once again lifted their occupancy requirement to 200, and for much of the day, it didn't seem like they were rigorously enforcing that requirement (though they started to in the afternoon). The majority of people are still wearing masks, but the breakdown is definitely 60-40% now.

The "maskless minority" seems as if it is bolder than before. I suspect that with no mask mandate forthcoming from the city, county, or Governor at this stage, and with temperatures starting to significantly rise (we hit the mid-80s today in Colorado Springs), the numbers of maskless will continue to rise. This is especially alarming because a Walmart and a Goodwill in Colorado Springs reported coronavirus outbreaks, with several of their employees being diagnosed with it, and a King Soopers employee in Denver died from it.

The increasing temps should cancel out this behavior.

I think in regards to the covid death rates, we are starting to see the inconsistent (wednesday peak, sunday decline) number slopes fading, due to reduced strain on states.

This is a good point.  I think we could reach a status quo where the smaller types of gatherings are mostly open (with some precautions) while large gatherings such as sporting events are still a no-no until a vaccine is available.

Concerts are a no no, but sporting events could reduce capacity and seal off some seats in an irregular pattern to create some distance while also allowing fans to attend.
