This is going to be a contest of sorts to see what the most popular state on this forum is. For the first round, it will be a four way match. All you have to do is vote for your favorite state of the choices provided. The top 2 advance to the next round while the third will go in a "wildcard" round. I want Round 2 to have 32 states. The states will be geographically in the same area each day. I'll try to end the polling after 24 hours assuming it isn't tied. Hopefully vote totals will be decent.

Alaska, California, Hawaii, Nevada. Vote for your favorite state out of these four!

The next round will have 32 states in it?  And only the top 2 advance?  Just like in this round of 4?  That aint fair to the 32 states ya know?

edit-unless I missunderstood?

Round 1 is going to last over a week with four different states per day (at least until the end, 50 isn't divisible by four). after Round 1 is done, there will be a wildcard round. Because if I just let the top 2 advance, we'd have 26 states for Round 2 and that isn't a good tournament number.

Ahh gotcha.  Sounds like fun.  I went with Alaska here even though I've only been to Nevada of this bunch.

Alaska is kick ass, becuase it has extremeness and tons of wilderness for hunting, and fun stuff.
California is also kick ass because of San Fransisco, and Punk Rock. It also has lots of wildnerness.

Meh.

Alaska - Really isolated and boring.

California - Good politics and things to do, but everywhere in it is a giant sprawly mess and/or insanely expensive.

Hawaii - Also isolated. Living there would be boring I think (yes, many will disagree here)

Nevada - Lots of fun but it's kind of sprawly and the politics are kind of crappy past the gambling and prostitution.

I suppose Nevada.

I'm assuming Northern California, so I voted for that.

Actually, they are pretty solid on all social issues. ...but like the rest of west, it only compensates some of the time. I talk to many social liberals around here and they are uber-neocons.

ARG! You put my two favorite states on the same list. Voted Hawaii of course.

Can you explain the format more clearly? Are there going to be 4 states in each list, or is the next round going to have 32?

Go Hawaii! (it is surprisingly liberal!)

Well, it's not what someone would think of at first of a socially liberal place, but it is.

Alaska, easily, beautiful state and, at least in my opinion, Anchorage is a very nice medium sized city. I don't really like California, though many areas of the state are very nice, Hawaii is too tropical for my tastes and I haven't heard good things about Honululu, I don't really like deserts very much myself plus I can't really see myself living in either Vegas or Reno.

Yeah, four states each day for this round. For example, the next match will be Idaho vs Montana vs Oregon vs Washington.

No surprise there.  The state with the most liberal sex laws gets BRTD's vote.
