If there is a primary organized for the Senatorial elections, as Polnut suggested, I'll be seeking nomination. Wink

Since we're already campaigning Wink

I offer myself for a member of the council because:

1. My dedication to the game has already been proved. I'm a person who likes to do stuff. Do a lot of stuff Grin
2. I have an experience in developing new project, just to mention Midwest Universal Althing, and I'm pretty sure my energy and ideas can be useful right here and right now
3. In addition to experience mentioned, I have an experience in recruitment, including inviting some people to the UDL in last two days

Reassuming, I want to do stuff for the UDL, give me a chance *hughughug*

Endorsed. Wink

For others, there are too much candidacies for me to endorse you all, so I'll have a hard time when I'll have to actually vote. Tongue

I'd be fine with either red or fuchsia, but please not orange, gold or yellow.

Also, I'm endorsing Hashemite for the Council (3 done, 2 left ! Tongue).

orange plz

Red would make us seem like an exclusively left-wing party, which we're not/shouldn't be

Well, I have to disagree there. As our name states, we are a left-wing party, a party whose goal is to gather all the different shades of the Atlasian left : going from liberal centrists like you to democratic socialists like Kalwejt. What we are not, however, is an un-ideological big tent party as was the DA. At least, that wasn't the idea I had when I joined the UDL. Let's be open, but let's be consistent.

About party colors, I think fuchsia could be a nice compromise between partisans of red and partisans of "centrist" color. This is the color used by the mainstream European center-left parties and would also fit with us quite well.

Rank the following choices for official party color from 1 to 7:

[1] Red
[5] Orange
[6] Gold
[4] Salmon
[2] Fuchsia
[3] Purple
[7] Blue

Vote yes or no on the following question:

Shall the party bylaws be amended to replace "five" in Article 6 with "seven"?

[  ] Yes
[X] No

Is it reasonable to call for an end to voting now that I believe almost everyone has voted?

We got 21 votes of 27. That's rather good but seeing the closeness of the vote I'd recommend to wait until a clearer majority emerges (maybe we could PM the 6 remaining voters).

Can I put this to votes ?

Motion Sad

1. The UDL shall run two candidates for December 2010 Senate elections.
2. These two candidates shall be determined through Instant Runoff Voting during a Party Primary.
3. Any candidate not taking part to the primary shall not receive any endorsement from the UDL. Any candidate taking part to the primary shall drop out of the race if he isn't among the two frontrunners.
4. The UDL Primary shall be held 24 hours after the passage of this motion. It shall last for 48 hours.

Feel free to propose any modification.

- My proposed changes in bold, if we're going to do this, way as well do it now.

That's right, I'm fine with this version.

I have to reject Teddy's amendment because 3 is still too much for now. For future elections, things could be different.

Hey, just a random thought : where is it written that a party must have one colore and only one ? There seems to be a major division between our members, so I think the best thing would merely be to adopt two official colors : Red and Orange. I don't think 49% of the party deserves to be frustrated just because 51% has a different opinion, so let's make everybody happy. Wink

Impossible in Atlasia. Even JCP at larget extend wouldn't accomplish that.

Yeah. 4 is basically the maximum for a party of our size (and it would imply being very lucky).

1. Do you approve of the UDL using the following symbol as it's official logo?

[  ] Yes
[  ] No

2. Do you approve of the UDL using the color Orange-Red as it's official color?

[X] Yes
[ ] No

I abstain on the logo vote. Nothing against the logo itself, but I think it's worth a debate as some people suggested. The symbol in my banner is the logo of the Norwegian Labour Party, FYI. As for the design, you can thank Hashemite. Smiley

If I may suggest, why not making the rose in our logo (since we're going to pick the #3) red instead of white ? A bit of red in this sea of orange won't harm anybody. Wink

It would hurt everyone's eyes.

Not really, Hash's orange is light enough.

Elections in Atlasia are personality contests, so running more popular personalities is a good bet. None of this is meant in a negative way, but I mean, was anyone really expecting many cross-over votes from the RPP for Antonio? Did anyone not know that Ben and Winston are kinda, sorta controversial figures in the game? And Sewer...

Well, we probably also need someone to represent the hardcore of the party : as we can see, we can afford that. Wink Though, if we want to elect a second senator, we probably indeed need some crossover votes. But anyways, we leed to run less candidates : 4 was just ridiculous.

I think next time we are better organized. For the next At-Large Elections we should have not more than 3 Candidates.

I don't understand this rationale.  How would any more of our candidates have been elected if we had run fewer candidates?

First of all, it would make us appear a little more credible. And more important, at the beginning of the election I was seriously worried that Sewer or Winston could actually beat me, then fail to be elected, thus preventing any UDLer from winning.
