On the hand, red states lead in teen births and divorces.

Again, great lie.  Almost twice the percentage of people are married in red states than in blue state.  Therefore, the slight raw numerical advantage that red states have over blue when it comes to divorce is meaningless and, on the whole, more people are in stable marriages in the red states than the blue.

IGNORE, BAD STATISTICS on my part.

Akno - Because in liberal leaning states the number of married couples per hundred people is less, the divorce rates are obviously going to be lower.

Example:

State A - 2,000 people, 500 marriages & 100 of those divorced

State B - 2,000 people, 250 marriages & 125 of those divorced

State A has half of its people married and a tenth divorced

State B has a fourth of its people married and a sixteenth divorced

State A has a fifth of marriages end in divorce

State B has half its marriages end in divorce

State B has less divorces per 1,000 people, but more per 1,000 marriages

Right. I misread the page I used, thought it was 1,000 married people, not 1,000 people. My error.
