Every American is complicit, including us.

What exactly is making this observation supposed to accomplish?

What else are we supposed to do? Vote for Trump?

That's sort of what I'm asking you. What do you intend us to do about the complicity of which you're so solemnly informing us?

By this logic, every Gazan is complicit in the activities of Hamas and every Israeli in that of the IDF. They pay taxes, after all.

"Hamas says it accepts Gaza truce deal, as Israel readies Rafah operation"

https://www.bbc.com/news/live/world-middle-east-68963839?src_origin=BBCS_BBC

"The Hamas leadership says it has accepted the terms of a ceasefire deal in Gaza.

In a statement, the group says it has informed Qatari and Egyptian mediators of its decision.

The finer details are yet to be announced, including how long it will last and what this means for hostages being held in Gaza.

Stay tuned for live updates from us here in London, and analysis from our colleagues in Jerusalem."

How do you accept the terms of a ceasefire proposal when the enemy does not have any idea what you are talking about?

One of the terms is that the USA closes down the war altogether.

Israel are never going to agree to leaving Hamas on their border.

Israel won the actual "war" long ago.

This is all about killing and destruction for the hell of it.

And keeping one deeply sociopathic individual in power for its own sake.

Is this what you "stand with Israel" for? To be reviled by the entire civilised world, and only supported by the most amoral monsters?? Is this what the old Zionist vision has come to?

This post here and the poster is a classic example of why I think everyone not directly involved in the conflict that is a "pro-Palestinian" anti-imp tankie weirdo or a pro-Likudnik brown noser should end up sectioned in a padded cell. Preferably in the same cell.

Considering that rockets are still being fired at Israel, it has arguably not one.

The only two ways those rockets stop - and stay stopped - is a long-term ceasefire or levelling Rafah. I think most of us would prefer the former.

Yes, I would agree Zionism has gone down a dark path.

If Bibi actually cared about Hamas and avoiding any catastrophe, he would have bombed their Qatar mansions out of orbit. But he's said - out loud - that there can be no election during a war. So he wants to prolong it, and his rule, as long and inefficiently as possible and doesn't care how many people get killed.
Bibi and Hamas have a mutually beneficial symbiotic relationship.

As the drone flies, it's a 1,760km journey from Ramon to Doha, most of it over Saudi airspace. The Saudis have some pretty capable air defence.

So too, does Qatar, being one of the richest places on Earth.

Saudi Arabia allegedly hates Qatar (even though they're just two sides of same the inbred blood money sportswashing Gulf monarchy coin.) For example Al Jazeera was already banned in SA before it was banned in Israel. They should help 'em out.

Well the Saudis and UAE were allegedly planning to invade Qatar in 2017 until Secretary of State Rex Tillerson found out about it from his oil buddies and squashed it, so yeah, I'd say "hates" is pretty accurate.

Not just invade. The Saudis were planning on building a canal and turning Qatar into an island (google for salwa canal). And stick a nuclear waste dump on the Saudi side of the canal. They also blockaded Qatar which was forced to get food/basics from Turkey instead. They also closed off their airspace to Qatar, which made Qatar Air's flight paths interesting.

Mostly this was because of Qatar's refusal to join the Saudis and Emirates in their proxy wars against Iran (though Al Jazeeras reporting of the Arab spring didnt help).

Can GMac or Ray explain where the Palestinians in Rafah are supposed to go? Egypt isn’t taking them, and Rafah is the southernmost town.

Yes, I would agree Zionism has gone down a dark path.

Except the rockets aren't just fired from Rafah but from Khan Younis, Gaza City, even Beit Hanoun, all places that have been already leveled and where the IDF declared victory months ago.

So actually, there's only one way to make the rockets stop (or to rescue the hostages, or to stop Hezbollah and the Houthis) and that's a ceasefire, full stop. Going into Rafah won't change anything, it'll just lead to a bunch of pointless civilian deaths that alienate Israel from the rest of the world even more than they already are

In order to answer that they’d have to care the slightest about the Palestinians plight which they clearly haven’t from the start when Israel’s problematic behavior started to be reported

I mean, you basically just summed up the problem here. The people who ostensibly should be advocating for them are fine with them dying.

If you'll look carefully at what Israel is doing, they're going sector by sector rather than trying to take the whole city at once with overwhelming force. I think they're far more interested in dismantling Hamas infrastructure than anything else right now, and that essentially allows the civilians to evacuate to other areas of Rafah, shuttling them around as needed.

It's far from the ideal solution that could happen if Palestinian civilians actually had any friends in the Arab world, but what's unfolding is far from the worst-case scenario either.

Egypt should not take in the Palestinians, because Israel would never allow them to return to Gaza. We've had this debate in this thread a dozen times. We had actual Israeli politicians say this and official plans drawn up

Israel could have taken Gaza in like a week way back in October, not worried too much about degrading infrastructure or whatever before they'd established on-the-ground control, and then conducted the rest of this war as a counterinsurgency. They lost politically and morally as soon as they decided not to do that, even though they're winning militarily. This is a real shame from any perspective other than hating Israel so much so that you're willing to tolerate astronomical amounts of human suffering for the sake of discrediting the (((Zios))), which some people do but which I don't think describes anyone currently participating in this conversation.

In the end, Netanyahu was willing to destroy Israel's PR and reputation in order to cling on to power. Going by anecdotes, it seems Israelis of all political stripes don't realize the gravity of their diminished reputation. The damage is already done, regardless of what happens to Hamas. Israel has lost the war. I think anyone with half a brain knew how Netanyahu would react, but Biden decided to play good cop and it backfired.
